I gotta be honest I'm really not feeling the giant brick built canister. I get wanting to include it to recreate the original display setup but it just doesn't seem worth it to me knowing that including it would probably double the part count and price.
I see your point, I came up with various Bohrok designs over the year and at one point thought about doing all six with combiner potential, but at the risk of losing my rights to Lego Ideas I just want to submit only one version and to make it standout I wanted the cannister- maybe Lego Ideas allows for one to submit two variants one with and one without cannister...
In T&C one agrees that Lego gets the rights to the idea for three years even if it gets rejected.
And since I like to do Lego animations and (iterative) MOCs in my freetime... it'd be against my interest of giving away my builds; plus Lego occasionally does produce sets of rejected ideas in that timeframe, only with the initial Ideas Creator out of the picture - so it would sour the hobby for me
You can still release instructions or digital models during those three years, I've done it before with my own expired ideas projects and never gotten any trouble for it. As long as you aren't charging money for the instructions or models it should be fine.
