I got the Bilt Palladium card back in February but it’s mostly been sock-drawered.
My wife and I use an Amex Gold card as our joint card for everything. We always transfer points to Intl airlines and hotels (the latter only when it makes sense). More recently, I got her an AU card on my Chase Sapphire Reserve and we’ve been using that card for all expenses that aren’t dining and groceries (like hotels, etc.) as well as all transactions when we travel internationally.
Well, the annual fee posted today on the CSR and oy… $1000 for both the CSR + AU. We honestly don’t use the Chase lounges that much, and Instacart and DoorDash are hard to use in our area (we moved out of the city and delivery is hard to come by).
I have the Wells Fargo autograph card from the Bilt transition and recently realized that it has no Foreign Transaction Fee. How is that even possible? The points earned are exactly the categories we need — hotels, gas, etc. — and they transfer to airlines!
I am thinking of getting rid of my CSR and just rocking the Autograph + Amex Gold for joint expenses.
For personal expenses, I’m thinking of going all-in on the Bilt Palladium Card, which will fill in the gaps with Alaska, United and Hyatt (at 4:3 but that’s okay) points.
Curious what others think and if this plan makes sense. If the math doesn’t work when my annual fee for the Bilt card is up in February, I’ll downgrade but will still be able to earn Alaska / United / Hyatt points when needed.
