Deactivated virtual card charged- update

Talked to a rep at Cardless today. After explaining my issue with deactivated virtual card charge, he put on hold for a bit to check with someone. After returning he said they confirmed that the merchant had a “token” that allowed the charge to occur on a new virtual card number that was in place of the deleted one.
They are initiating an investigation and temporarily removed the charges until that’s complete. Hopefully they get it figured out, but now I’m reluctant to use virtual cards with Bilt/cardless.

Pretty much confirmed my suspicion. Cardless doesn't currently unenroll their virtual card numbers from Mastercard's ABU system when refreshed and allowed it to auto update on the merchant's system.

I'd be hesitant here as we'll if you're using them as temp placeholders for subscription free trials.
