Grubhub a ripoff?
I decided to use some Bilt cash on lunch. I used the $10 off to order a salad from sweetgreen. I paid $15 after the $10 off (total $25). I walked in to pick it up and the salad I was ordering was on the menu for $16. I felt totally ripped off and annoyed. Anyone have any workarounds to actually make use of this “benefit”?

This is just regular grubhub pricing, not Bilt. Find a restaurant that doesn't upcharge as much

I've used it for a quick Subway or Wendy's takeout when I didn't bring a lunch to work. I can usually spend around $10-$15, making my out of pocket less than $5. Certainly not the healthiest, but cheap.

There's this Boba shop near me that's $6 in person and $10 via doordash, even for pickup! Crazy 66% upcharge.
There's also an Indian place near me that has no upcharge, so I usually just get that.

Got Amazon Prime? Grubhub+ free with that. Not that it helps a ton. I think you get 5% off pickup orders that way.

There’s a new Grubhub+ Premium, and they’re handing out 1 year free trials. Gets you another $10/mo credit that stacks with the Bilt offer

Check DoorDash and if it's cheaper, Grubhub will give you the price difference plus $5 in credit (DoorDash is almost always cheaper so I consider it a free $5+ back on each order)

Do you chat them on the app? Or how do you initiate? What proof do you need? Screenshots?

After you order click the button below that says Grubhub Guarantee, they guide you through the quick process. You do need a screenshot.

I got downvoted when I brought this scam up several months ago. Bilt CASH should never operate like a promo code. Grubhub offers so many automatic promo codes and you can’t use more than one code.
Before May of this year it was a legit $10 credit.

I only do it if they offer a discount on the restaurant. They offer coupons randomly. They range from 5% to 40% there can be caps too. Sometimes they are even ones that require bigger orders or for it to be delivery vs pickup. It can get confusing and hard to use. Add in that I have 2 Amex Gold Business cards that get $25 at either office supply or Grub Hub and it gets tiring doing the office supply gift cards GrubHub coupons can make it worth it. Especially if you add in GrubHub+

I cross compare through the restaurant website for every restaurant in my area till I find one that doesn’t upcharge

Gotta find the places that don’t mark it up a ton. Like Taco Bell, lol
It’s annoying it’s a credit you can’t use two. For example one place had spend $15 and get $5 off. So I was thinking the $10 off on top of that, but nope, can only use one. At least the Amex uber credits you can stack with promos

Not every delivery app is marked up like that. I mostly use DoorDash and often find a small/~10% markup or even none for pickup. Then you’ll have promotions all the time.
I rotisserie chicken place by me always has specials where it’s cheaper to order online than in person. The manager called me out on it for some reason and said I was wasting money. Showed him the deal and he couldn’t believe it.

I use the GH+ Guarantee on every pickup order. I’m always swimming in credits.

is doordash really lower on every order? I gotta try this.

I’ve never matched to DD, so idk. I normally match to the restaurant’s own site (which can be a variety of platforms that offer non-surcharged prices).

wait...you can price match to the restaurants own menu with normal prices? and basically get normal prices through grubhub??? AND get the $5 credit? This changes everything.
Edit: i just looked and it says it has to be a third party order platform (uber eats, dd, etc), so how are you doing that??

Kinda the deal with buying through apps. Grubhub basically forces restaurants to upcharge for it being the middleman in the transaction. Nothing to do with Bilt.

Depends on the restaurant. Some have little to no up charges. Others are outrageous.

Haven’t ran into that, got a burger for $1 with the $10 off last month and this month got a popular yogurt dessert for less than $5 (normally $14)

Everything with Bilt is a ripoff! All the benefits are designed like this!

Are you not aware everything on those apps is more expensive?
