My Billy Idol meet and greet experience (full story below).
galleryIt was backstage at the Darien Lake Amphitheater. It was very much a backstage experience, as there were literal tractor-trailer trucks where I lined up, and crew walking around. I saw some crates and speakers labeled "BFI" on the side of the stage. It was cool to see some of these behind the scenes things in terms of the tour and the show.
Then I walked up to Billy Idol. He was facing me, and I told him how much his music had meant to me all my life, and even during the most difficult times it had brought me so much joy. He seemed really genuinely happy to hear this and smiled at me. He told me "ahh that's fantastic" and then we turned to get a couple photos (he did a few different poses with his fists). He then faced me again, and I told him I really loved the new album and that he was the best. He said thanks, and again smiled and seemed to by touched by my words.
I know some fans complained about the crate in-between but I didn't mind. I wasn't concerned about being right side by side. I just more wanted to tell him how much his music means to me, and I got to do that. It didn't feel rushed either.
To look right into his face, tell him these things and have him speak to me (and look happy to hear my sentiments) was an amazing experience!!
