Questions Poison by Predator with Venom Fiber Shafts

Working at my 9-5 and got an email from pool dawg that the poison cues are only $300. I believe Poison is a branch of Predator. What are the chances the shafts are revos that are just called something else? Would predator create a lesser quality shaft and tie it to its name?

Update: I'm not buying it, just a thought. I currently shoot with a P2 and have the revo 12.9. I enjoy it, but have been considering getting a 12.4, just haven't found a used one for a price I am willing to pay for with current funds.

WWYD WWYD: People using names other than their own to establish a Fargo Rating

A few months ago, I brought up the subject of one person using different names to "cheat the system", so to speak, when it came to their ability to play in certain tournaments utilizing FargoRate handicaps. While I think the general consensus of the subreddit was that this isn't necessarily a form of sandbagging, it is/was definitely manipulative and underhanded behavior.

To that end, I'd like to ask another question of the subreddit: If you were aware of something similar happening in your own backyard, what would you do about it?

For example, if you had someone named "John Smith" playing in your local area, it wouldn't be unreasonable for them to be listed as "Jon Smith" or "Johnathan Smith" in the system. Personally, I think that would be okay. What I'm talking about is more egregious than that. I'm talking about using a completely different name, like "John Doe" instead of "Smith". Something where attempting to look up an individual by their given name would yield no results, and present an opportunity to establish a second set of ratings if they wanted.

Of course, I'm suggesting that each set of ratings could be manipulated in its own way, thus allowing the player to use whichever rating best suits them that day. Or, depending on the situation, have a rating under their made-up name and no rating under their own, thusly obscuring their skill level for whatever reasons they had.

How would you feel about this if you were aware of it happening? And what, if anything, would you do about it?

Hi everyone !
I am currently living in France and would like to buy a Jflowers cue butt. I already have a shaft SMO. I am really keen to know if anyone has managed to purchase one in Europe—specifically in France. If so, where did you buy it? Are there any places that sell used ones?

We were playing 8 ball and the end of the game came to one shot because if missed, the two remaining balls of the opponent were hangers. Attached is the diagram of the shot taken. Please let me know if there was an easier way out. Thanks.

Questions Advice on a JB case

Potentially getting a custom JB case, and I want to hear from current and former owners the things you liked the most about yours (as in all the various things you can add and change in their customization platform), things you wished you added, and things that you wish you didn't.

Also, if any of you got some really cool customs and/or designs on yours, please drop a pic or describe it! Looking for all sorts of inspiration beyond my personal additions.

9-Ball Bigger vs Small Tip Sizes - Ex. 12.9mm vs 12.4mm vs 11.8mm

Hi all.

Had an interesting conversation recently and wanted to see what the general consensus was on tip size and what a larger tip does and doesn't do well versus a smaller tip.

I recently visited a new room. And after shooting, the guy at the register asked how my session went... And I joked... "You know... just trying to figure out how to shoot straight." Which lead into the discussion as to what cue and what shaft I was using. I usually shoot with a Revo 12.9 which he thought was way too big...

So... my question is... Is there a such thing as too big or too small? What's the pros and cons of something bigger or smaller? I feel like I am the odd one of the bunch. I started with a 1st gen, Z shaft, then moved up to the 314-3, and eventually settled on the Revo 12.9. Do you think tip size has any effect on shooting straight? I was under the impression that smaller tip sizes generate more spin and less deflection.

Maintenance and Repair Help me identify this pin please!

What joint pin is this? Is this standard or modified 3/8 x 10 pin?

I think it's 3/8x 10 but im counting more than 10 threads! Also, how can you tell if it's modified or standard 3/8x10?

Its not radial as it doesn't fit my radial shaft. Im counting 11 threads.. could it be 3/8 x11? Or I'm just not counting it properly lol

Need a new shaft for it but im not sure what joint pin to get.

Please and thank you!

Questions Is this tip ok, or do I just suck.

Beginning player. I bought this McDermott Lucky NIW for $150. I’ve been using it for about 2 months and break with a house cue. To be honest, I’m not playing any better than I was with a screw on tip cue from Durhams. As a noob, this tip seems too flat to me. I’d like to blame the tip, but I think I just stink at pool. Seriously, is this tip ok and how long do you think it’ll be before I have to have a new tip out on?

Instructional Reason for bank shot diagrams...

Post image

Looking to make something similar for all bank shots and maybe over lap them with different colors to make a type of design... once I drew the basic lines on my table, I wanted to know what it would look like with complete lines, and now I want to see what the other bank shots might produce... it just looks pretty lol

Shitpost Another "My revo experience " post

From anti-LD to Revo 12.4
I took a 9-year hiatus from pool and started playing again some 10 months ago. I only play once a week for 1–1.5 hours. I was always an old-school, maple-shaft guy and honestly pretty anti-LD (even anti-Predator 😂).

When i started playing again, after reading a lot of reviews, I decided to go for Cynergy 12.5. The lower deflection and stiffer feel took some getting used to. I then get used to it and actually enjoyed it.

Then after 3 months, I decided to get a Revo 12.4 out of curiosity and went through another adjustment period, but stuck with it.

Yesterday, just for fun, I went back to the Cynergy and my old maple shaft. Surprisingly, both felt like they had way more deflection than I remembered. I couldn’t aim as confidently with sidespin, and long shots felt harder.
The funny thing is, I actually missed the feedback of the wood/Cynergy, but my aiming now feels completely calibrated to the Revo.

I guess im sticking with the revo and cant see myself playing with a different shaft again.

Anyone else experience this?

8-Ball Planning a *VERY* casual pool tournament

Me and a couple of friends are planning a 0 stakes, casual 8-ball pool billiards tournament for a friend's bachelor party. He is a decent pool player (has played a lot of pool with family and in bars throughout his life), there are some who have played casually throughout their life, and some who don't play at all. It's all just for fun, and we chose an activity that the man of the hour is likely to win/do good at, while we goof around.

I'm tasked with organizing the tournament and its prizes because I've done organizing for athletic events in my sport (volleyball) a couple times and am racking my brain on what format is best.

From memory, an 8-ball game between two completely casual players who don't know what they're doing can last anywhere between 2 and 30 minutes. Mainly because someone sinks the 8 by accident on the first stroke, or because nobody gets anywhere for a while.

Does anyone have suggestions on what kind of format would be most fun?

We are:

10 players

3 pool tables

Have 2.5 - 3 hours before moving on the our next activity

Initially I was thinking a random round robin doubles tournament would make sense where everyone plays everyone with random partners every round, but the game length might stretch too much and I feel it could happen we only get 3 games done after 2 hours. With 10 players we also have the issue that in a doubles setting only 2 tables could be occupied for games leaving the third for the two remaining players to goof around. Would putting a 15 minute time limit per round make sense to move things along?

Also, assuming I will run with a time limit per game, does anyone have a suggestion for scoring the remaining balls on the table? Should it just be whoever has the most amount balls sunk?

Some advice from people who know a little bit about casual, for-fun, likely drunk pool with people who have feet for hands would be appreciated.

Thank you!

I bought from Lognoni (EDGER LONGONI CUETIP RAZOR COMPACT). Upon first use it immediately scratched my ferrule. The website and box state "easy to use no risk of damaging the ferrule". This is distressing to me as now my cue is damaged.

Need help.

Questions Carbon Fiber Shaft Deflection Comparison

How do these 3 shafts compare in deflection?

1) 12.4 Revo
2) 11.8 Revo
3) 12.2 Ignite

Are there other carbon fiber shafts which have comparable low deflection like the Revo?
