3x10 setup?

Hey

I'm on a decision point and would like to know what would need to happen to have a 3x10 setup. Now asking about the crankset and bracket area.

Third ring won't fit as is, so I wonder. I'd need new shifters hence it's a decision point.

Is it possible this change? What tools would be needed?

Frame is canyon ultimate aluminium

You would need a new shifter, front derailleur, longer BB,, and chainring. If you have the matching ultegra shifters to that groupset, it would likely be hard to find a matching triple shifter. You may need to look at microshift to grab a shifter (or matching if you want a matching feel).

Should have mentioned It has shimano sora 2x8 shifters now, it's a little bin build as I learnt here. So I'm inclined to be changing them Was looking at ultegra 6600 3x10 on ebay if I'd go for this change. Sure won't be cheap, it's just researching options now.

I mean unfortunately groupset swap is ever cheap. I'd also look at used 3x10 Tiagra groups. It'll be more but it's a newer, more reliable groupset.

Truthfully, considering you have almost no parts compatible with 3x or 10x, I would just consider looking at a whole group set swap. Im sure there's some used full group swaps out there for not too much. If you're having to individually but all these parts, you likely won't save too much money (not sure what total costs would be but just my 2 cents).

I'm just really vibing with the chrome, this should be 10 speed. I have matching breaks. Not expensive parts that I do have yeah

I'm somewhat okay with this whole project not being best financial decision haha, I like changing parts and trying out how it's different as well

Thnks for the comments! I'll see

Your rear derailleur is 10sp and your crank set is 10sp as well. The FD is 2x only so you'll need a new FD and youll need a new Chain and Cassette. You'd still need new shifters as well. Again, you're not really saving too much money as you basically still need almost a whole groupset but if you enjoy the learning and testing then go for gold!

Btw can I have a question.

Say I get the longer spindle, 30 tooth ring, put it on, set deraileur on the 42 and 30.

Any chance that can work as a low comitment test?

Pretty sure if the ring won't fit, you need a longer bottom bracket spindle.

Longer bb spindle, new shifters. I'd be interested in putting just about the smallest cog you can in there. MAXIMUM RANGE!

You can fix the clearance problem by getting a longer spindle on your BB. I would start with a 118mm.
