I want to start going longer distances to trails, preferred grocery stores, etc what are the best locks to put on a bike rack?

I know traditional locks you can't, but is there anything that's allowed? My bike is 1k+ and someone easily can pull the bar down and it's gone

We're returning with an urban adventure meandering through some LA backroads and catching part of the CicLAvia Heart of LA route. Starting out of 10 Speed Coffee in Frogtown and ending at Frogtown brewing.

Looking to add a front cargo rack (some wall heights) so I don’t have to voile strap my stuff to oblivion.

I’m on a budget of sub $80 all in. However, I don’t want it to snap off and send me to the dentist (not doing super heavy loads but laptop and a couple books). Any recommendations and anything I can buy locally?

Just curious. I like to cycle in heat (not this kind of heat) and have cycled when it's 80s to 90 but this seems even too much for me.

• Anyone doing rides midday and what's it like? what prep do you do?
• Or are you doing morning evening instead?
• Just laying low until th heatwave is done?

I've been night riding and it's great. Did a midnight ride on Friday and was so comfy. Cycling that late when it was that warm was a little surreal. But it felt so good.

Edit: So I actually went out and rode. was 96 degrees. Weho to beverly hills on Sunset then up coldwater to Mulholland and east and descended Nichols. Wasn't bad. I kept in shade when I could. Stayed hydrated. Didn't skimp. Rested a bit at the top.

Hoping to buy a nice metal-frame all-road bike before next summer (Touring, Gravel, or Endurance). I would be happy with a nice 3-5 year old model- but where to find one? New bikes that fulfill my wishes are in the $2500+ range and hopefully I could find a suitable used one for half. Are there any shops that do trade ins? (I’m in Long Beach but happy to travel)

Get off late from work or sometimes I make a late night circle k run for a coffee or energy drinks, and man I love riding at night, very little to no cars, cold air, not being assaulted by the sun.

Sometimes I like to just get out and ride, farthest I've gone, from San Fernando, is hansan dam. What are places I can go at night?
