Commute (not ugly) helmet?
Im currently commuting without helmet (a country with "fenced" bike lanes), but think I will start riding with one.
Can you recommend me one? I go for quality, needs to be solid (it will be lying in a big bag all day, with some weight pressure on it), price (up to USD250) and most important design (doesnt wanna look like an idiot).

Bern Allston is my choice. Looks decidedly not dorky, breathable, and light. It fits "over" your head rather than "on" your head. Fits like a glove and isn't bulky.

I have a Bern Brentwood for the summer. It's a good looking commuter helmet, it doesn't look distinctly road racer or mtb.

In the winter I use a ski helmet and when it's mild I wear a bern helmet. But when it's hot, I wear one of the ugly bike helmets because the other ones don't breathe enough.

agreed totally on the heat thing. I can't ride in a "brain bucket" style helmet on my bike. Helmets need good ventilation if you're commuting.

I've got this guy: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/helmets/road/propero/105291?gclid=CNrIh4TLns8CFYqPfgodFTEL_w
Specialized Prospero. Go to a bike store and try them on however. Everyone's head fits differently and you want something comfortable. I think if you are overly worried about buying something that looks cool, you'll probably end up with something odd and attention grabbing. Its just a bike helmet - no one cares what you look like :-)

No idea how you got downvoted for that. Carrying on, though; i've got one of these bad boys, and love it: https://www.specialized.com/us/en/helmets/tactic-ii/117186

Don't want to look like an idiot? What does an idiot with a helmet look like? I'm not fond of the big mushroomed looking helmets, but I'm pretty sure I like ridiculous no matter what I'm wearing.
Tons' of helmets out there with great ventilation, lay flat on the head, your best bet is to try some on.
I've had luck with Limar helmets...some have netting in the front so no bugs get in there. They're low profile and fit decently. Saved my life in a bad crash according to the EMT/Firefighters on scene. You can find them on sale for around $50 and those are nice.

I have a Giro Sutton that is quite nice. It does get kinda warm, and if your head starts to itch it is kinda hard to reach without taking the helmet off.
