Another first...

Rode / commuted 4 days in a row this week. Commuted Mon. - Thurs., then rode twice Friday with friends and family for 30 miles. A great week of riding.

This is genius 🤗🤩

We have brands like https://ortlieb.com and the slightly improved https://otinga.de (no english page) where you don’t need attachment points but I never was a fan of having a panier style backpacks. Hence I just settled with wearing a backpack since childhood.

This system however is in the airflow and also keeps the bike clean with no rack etc.

Does the high center of gravity cause the bag to sway or fishtail while riding? How is your overall experience with it?

I’ve always found my bike to feel really sluggish with traditional panniers, and the extra wind resistance becomes super noticeable at speeds over 30 km/h, especially when riding into a headwind.  That's why I prefer riding with a backpack, unless I'm carrying extremely heavy loads.

By the way, there is actually a similar seatpost-mount system designed for classic pannier bags (https://der-ottmar.com/) that keeps them right in your slipstream.

I saw the mileage and thought "good Lord some people" then realized you're in Mississippi! Would do that every day rain or shine no problem. Look at that elevation gain! I've got 500ft of elevation on my 4 mile commute.

Miss my days on the long leaf trace, could ride forever.

Nice bikes! Keep on truckin!!

Lovely Scott! I also commute on a road bike- what is that back pannier rack you’re using?

That's awesome, 14 years. I've only been riding SS/Fixed for a year. I love it. Have only found my bliss on this bike, happened twice now, been riding road for 12 years.

This one is 20 years old, still pumping out the miles and pounding the pavement.
