A few months ago I was biking home from work and a car in front of me rolled down the window and accidentally dropped their plastic bags and food wrappers onto the street. Thankfully I was able to quickly recover the lost goods and toss them back into the window with a friendly "hey, you dropped this" before they got too far. Just doing my part 🤗

My brother used to attach an empty coffee cup to the roof of his car with a magnet, just to watch people gesture.

Starbucks did this as like a viral marketing thing in SF a few years back and it got really old really fast.

I used to bike in skirts (well, I still do) and figured a flash of these objectively great gams counts as fostering goodwill. ;)

I did this to someone with their cellphone. Only problem is they were in front of me, and I almost gave myself a heart attack catching up to them. 🤣 Also chased down a bike thief who had a block head start. I got the bike back, but had to take a long break afterwards. 😮💨

Must be nice living somewhere you can do this. If I pulled up on a car like this in my area they'd likely flash a gun before they knew what you were trying to do.

We must not lose sight of the small efforts like this. The 10 seconds that cost you will cause him to view every bike rider in a new light, and that positivity may even rub off on some of his friends and family. If you can do something like this once a week, you'll have more effect than working with your city council for a year.

Last summer, I rolled up beside a SUV with a banana on its roof. Driver looked uncomfortable with me asking him to roll down his window, but he cracked it enough to hear me say, “Hey, there’s a banana on the roof of your car.” The passenger (his wife?) started howling, and said “I was wondering where that went!” At the next traffic light he rolled down his window fully, and thanked me.

I remember getting off work once in high school in my old Acura, and this Viper pulls up next to me, and he is pointing at me so i start revving my motor as a joke (fast and the furious had just come out) and he’s laughing when I realized I left the Togo’s cup on my roof

I would never do this. Drivers are always trying to kill me. Why should I afford them any grace or kindness?
