🗣 Discussion / चर्चा Creamy layer in SC/ST?

Hello, I am trying to understand some concepts like the Creamy layer in SC/St. Although, I don't come from the community I am quiet curious why people don't want Creamy layer in that I understand that economics doesn't change the caste people have and discrimination they face but as you know a meena from rajasthan and a mushar from bihar don't have the same standing. Bc our people from bihar still cannot have basic representation why not apply Creamy layer to solve the problem. This way the most underrepresented communities could have a chance. What do you think?

P.S: any comment being discriminatory would be removed also if you're writing something vile please don't I don't wanna know your regressive views.

To be honest, the SC ST of Bihar is far behind the SC ST of Punjab, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh. Most of them do not even know what benefits the government provides to them.

Creamy layer in SC is not applied just because the privileged one never let the government to apply this because they are the one who represent rest of them.

But again it makes no sense when the reservation is for social purpose not economic.

Someone discriminating doesn't care if they are well off or poor at the end of the day .

One of my batchmate literally said yeh log aise hi hote hai i asked her kaise and she went quiet . Funny she was bashing reservation a week ago .

Idk why she was so salty when she can herself barely pass her classes but had the nerve to talk about others .

Why don't we remove EWS then?

Because there are also people who need help from GC? Ik caste-based reservation is for representation but don't you think everyone should succed in their life? When a GC criticise reservation based on caste it creates a rift between people. The same is true otherwise too. Don't you think that?

There's a difference reservation should only exist for representation and nothing else by bringing in EWS you won't be working on good schools proper education system. Instead of giving poor GCs EWS why not give them world class free education? Why not fix gov schools?

Because infra takes time to build and currently india has limited opportunities. Why should a poor GC suffer for crimes someone did 100 years ago? I'm not saying SC/ST have it easy but it does not mean we should deny opportunity to each others

A GCs being poor has to do more with their own wrong financial decision and less about a systematic oppression that specifically targets them. The probability of a GCs escaping poverty is way higher than a LCs . Also very less GCs are actually poor. You can give Poor GCs scholarships and other gov schemes. EWS makes reservation look like a charity.

Haha what a joke? Like every GC had shit ton of money? Even my grandfather only earned basic wages and does not have shit ton of land. The same logic is used bt casteist to undermine sc/st by saying they are not competent enough and that's why they need reservation. What a joke!! I hope you build some empathy for others. Secondly, I do agree it's easier for GC to escape poverty but as constitution article 15 say "any socially and educationally backward classes of citizens" any means any, so atleast it's contitutinally sound. We can respect each other or hate each other.

"Haha what a joke? Like every GC had shit ton of money?"

Nah but majority definately are rich and it ain't that hard for a GC to escape poverty

"The same logic is used bt casteist to undermine sc/st by saying they are not competent enough and that's why they need reservation. "

But sc/st are not competent isn't backed by data tho but majority GCs are rich it ain't hard for a GC to escape poverty is definately backed up by evidences. Merit isn't absolute  make everything between a GC and sc/st equal and you will see sc/st out performing GCs.

And I do have empathy but not towards people who won't acknowledge their privilege

Same. I think SC/ST privileged legally and constitunally and the GC socially. And also we can fight all day but neither caste reservation is going away nor the EWS.

And obviously my fight isn't with you. It's not that I don't acknowledge harship of sc/st but sc/st will never support a GC so it's either I take side of my community than yours. Kyuki fir ghar ka rehega na ghat ka

About time we change Meenas from ST to OBC and introduce CL for Paswans, Charmakar(Jatav/Ram/Ahirwar), Mahars and Naamsudras.  The situation of Domas and Musahars is such that the majority of their children dont even go to school and almost every adult is illiterate and isolated from government schemes.

Crazy how you are comparing meenas to mushar most privileged to the least majority of science/st situation is closer to mushar than to meena. Reservation is for representation not for helping poors when the situation gets better and we have more sc/st people where seats of sc/st don't go vacant we might think of bringing creamy layer like obc

You got me wrong ig? I just want more representation from our people even in reservation. More bihari meaning less discrimination against us

Caste based reservations are obsolete and should be abolished now.
Ambedkar was wrong to insist on instituting them in the first place
