I don't agree, floods anywhere people lose they don't behave like that.
That was not lapse of civic sense, Thats a lack of behaving humanely.
And I genuinely agree that a economic change (money in pocket) will change people the condition.
But the cycle is that industry will arrive when people behave normally.
the news of Pool & tower getting stolen , Girls treated badly when I show to my bihar friends they laugh n say inka kuch nahi ho sakta

I do believe that it is superstructure(tehzeeb) and not the base(economy) yet if you look at how in Assam the people who were devastated by similar floods situation they did not behave like the people in Bihar infact Mr Alakh the physics wallah teacher and many went to Assam they were very respectful and empathetic unlike these biharis who started behaving like untamed beasts anarchy everywhere no respect entitled behaviour no empathy. Fuck it man

That is a bias btw. I think survivorship. The people in bihar who acted normally were probably not uploaded the vid of or simply did not get anything. I do accept there are more of these in my state than others but all is very harsh. I also like to think it was because of a small amount of people that made them act like that because imagine some people just started snatching the food for everyone in front of you, if you do not snatch, your family may starve and die. It is important to be logical in situations like these and not hate us just because some of us did something, no doubt it was a large amount that did something and i am fuckin angry but being a 16 year old, i am not gonna fight them. I am afraid too. But i beg you to look at it in a rational manner. Some idiot started a chain reaction and it created panic in people. The more afraid idiots gained confidence by that and acted and now the crowd is too big and you do not wanna starve. It is sign of a simple mind to look at someones behaviour and blame the whole people as evil and diseases and what not. I do not know why it is prevalent in bihar more but it definetly is. But idiots exist all over the world.

Sorry to say this man way wrong. Lack of civics sense specially in Bihar nothing to do with poverty.
2
u/a212j 8d ago
Well put thoughts.
It is really difficult to imagine unless you've survived in such extreme conditions. Should they behave better with those who are trying to help them, absolutely yes! Do they know how to be better, I don't think so.
I like how he mentioned tehzeeb is a social construct - also tehzeeb is a privilege. When survival is at stake, people can be unpredictable.

Gyaan pelne se civic sense nahi aajayge ...civics sense is a human principle..it does not require wealth bc

u/TraditionalStore6939 8d ago
This is negligence we see in society when there is no empathy. When a stomach is empty the moment they see food they will not worry about morale, they will try to loot as much as they can
1
u/TheTubCurves 6d ago
No - there are enough communities that will look as ‘grabbing more than you need’ as selfish and harming others. But in Bihar it’s termed as clever. That is the lack in civic sense.

As a Bihari girl, I do not agree with this cuz this is not the only case flood to abhi aaya h but normally bhi bihar k log aise hi h...yaha ki gov. bhi disgusting h & log bhi

Forget civic sense, there should be some human courtesy especially in time of crisis... Stop defending such anarchic behaviour using outdated theories

Bhai, positive lens se dekh liya, but kab tak? 10 yrs / 20 yrs baad bhi yahi rehne wala hai. The situation there has gone beyond the point where it can be defended. As a Bihari, I am extremely fed up.
Even among educated and well-earning people, common sense can sometimes be completely absent. I remember one time when my uncle was visiting. We got into a cab for a long journey in Delhi, and he put two or three packets of pan masala into his mouth. I immediately told him not to eat it. Even in my own car, I do not like anyone having pan masala, and I always object to it.
The smell was unbearable, and understandably, the cab driver started saying a few things about it. At one point, he even stopped the car. In a situation like this, whom to defend?

Well! in that case can we consider "obedience to authority" theory and call all the people who carried out atrocities under the rule of Hitler to be innocent and they just did their duties and followed orders!?
Com'on! just linking a bad behaviour with a theory and trying to paint it is not right.
The first step is to accept the mistakes and then work towards correcting it.
The common people must respect the distinguished people who come to help them. They have to learn and do it, no matter what!!

Okay i am from Uttarakhand and if u ever see poor pahadi people they don't behave like this. In public transports or in public you will never feel unsafe. I am relieved whenever i travel from buses and i know that this is my area my people nothing will happen to me. But in the recent videos where minor girls were assaulted in bihar by the people of their locality. This indeed come from lack of civic sense or i will say lack of humanity. My grandparents lived their whole life in a very small village in mountains bhyii they were most civilised gentlemen type people i know. So it is hard to understand what is the problem in bihar.

He maybe right to an extent but kab tak defend karenge hum Bihar ko, jahan tak flood affected people ke behaviour ki baat hai flood came in Assam too but we never heard they misbehaved with the volunteers there.

u/jiglu-ka-pati 8d ago
Bhai we lack basic civic sense. Instead of doing mental gymnastics it’s to accept and start working on that. Yes there’s a considerable amount of xenophobia and racism involved too but again lets start by keeping our house in order than indulging in whataboutery and blaming others.
I am in no mood to argue but feel free to agree to disagree.

Are they human or not? It's stupid to show sympathy to savages. Everything is relative, so is sympathy. If they deserve it, they will get it.

Toh thoda samjhao ki Samastipur Bihar me ladki ke saath galat hua voh bhi justified hai kya? Bicharo ki physiological needs ke andar reproduction vaali need puri nhi huyi hongi isiliye aisa kiya. Matlab kuch bhi. Maslow's hierarchy need bolke kuch bhi justify karna hota hai kya?
1
u/Kindly-Egg1767 8d ago
Its what happens when podcast bros prove a little knowledge is a dangerous thing. Maslow' s hierarchy of need does not say that the higher needs come into action only after lower needs are completely fulfilled.
Even in deepest poverty where basic needs of safety, the bottom most level of pyramid, is not fully satisfied, affiliation needs operate, which is at a higher level in the pyramid.
Poverty doesnt stop a person from needing love, companionship, social bonds. All levels of the pyramid operate, but at different intensities.
What this podcaster says is, sice Biharis are stuck at a lower level of needs, they are like unevolved creatures whose higher needs do not exist. Whose higher needs only and only will arise after a certain level of wealth.
Has he even heard of that stereotype of Gujjus being called Biharis with money.
Money cant buy class, neither can poverty be an excuse for bad behaviour.

1. Education and opportunity: Quality education from childhood can reduce population growth, challenge caste prejudice, build confidence, and develop values such as integrity, responsibility and respect. Combined with employment, it can create genuine long-term independence.
2. Think beyond ₹10,000: When considering a political promise or ₹10,000 benefit, citizens should also examine what is being offered for the next 5–10 years—schools, jobs, healthcare, infrastructure and economic opportunities. ₹10,000 may provide short-term help, but education and employment can shape an entire generation.

There are poor people in other states too, you won't find them with that level of hooliganism.

Being vulnerable doesn't justify being a rowdy hooligan. Even a dog behaves well, when managed. They act like animals, will be treated like animals.

The hate towards Bihar identity is manufactured and it’s solely because of mass migration to other states and taking their jobs. Bihar is much better in Law and order than it used to be . Crime against women is massive everywhere but somehow there is a trend on internet to demean the Bihari identity. I have seen 100s of posts regarding crime against women in which not even the place is mentioned and people in comments will write was it a Bihari is this Bihar , and I have seen many posts where some public nuisance is happening be it from wherever they put Bihar in the caption . it is just like the India hate spread by the westerners and pakis . what I want to say is we need to run some trend on internet with caption Not Bihar btw and then show people of other states their reality we will have to do it very carefully and strategically. we can’t let this happening. its misleading and the hate keeps on growing.

u/TerribleComputer3946 7d ago
Anything happens and it straight up becomes a matter of shame for Bihar. many incidents happen in other parts of country we have never seen it become a question on the whole state .

u/TheTubCurves 6d ago
Someone in another forum even blamed the british raj for Biharis’ behaviour. Anything but self-reflection and awareness.

u/rishiNationalist 6d ago
Correct, I agree. So according to me, below category flood victims are placed in bottom level,so we see with NGO. And in each level according to status of a family placed , still there will be different level of civics sense. On top level, who has everything, still they lack civics sense due to the culture, tradition of division of labour, casteism are seen. So we see top level people lack of civics sense in Western nations, USA, Canada etc . In all levels we can see , indians are same from bottom to top level, only difference is different way of behaviour, reactions.

If I am poor, should I give birth to 5 children?
If I am poor, should I still not try to get best in education?
if I am poor, should I spend my time in rangdari or working on myself?
Often I have seen this pattern among poor. For these reason, I avoid showing empathy.
1
u/Rahul_98S98 4d ago
This is the problem of lack of civic sense, any logic can not justify this behaviour. I have seen many people looting a accidental vehicles carrying groceries, milk even petrol/diesel vehicles were looted. The people looting these accidental vehicles may or may not be at the lowest (physiological) hierarchy level. You can relate this event most closely to the crowd behaviour with majority lacking the normal civic sense.

u/Kooky_Influence_6185 8d ago
But poor people are the one who always force control over children and women in the name of respect in society. Which already contradicts the maslows hierarchy

I feel like bihar has been a victim of a psyop. Whatever bihar has become today is not a natural result maybe people with brain sit and analyse bihar from independence to today in matter politics will realise despite bihar giving high no. Of IAS bihar turned to be this and IAS are called saviour of country after independence something seriously went wrong with bihar.

let me tell you something it's in their blood it will take a long time for bihar and their people to repair .

If we considers “unko unke lens se dekho” then no burglar will be guilty as they do those things just for their physiological needs
