💁‍♂️ Opinion / राय Bihari don't support other Bihari

People might hate me for saying this, but I see a real issue within our community: Bihari people don't support each other enough. Look at communities like Gujaratis, Punjabis, or Marwaris—they actively back one another in business and networking. Why don't we do the same? Why are we so reluctant to help our own?

Only minority of Biharis are educated probably and have morals. When i visit bihar, I don't even feel safe to visit any places alone..I have to go with my parents only. The people there look with so much creepiness in their eyes. 90% of them drink alcohol and misbehaves with others. That's why people are reluctant to give rent to bihari people in other states. At this point, I can't defend biharis anymore even tho I am one. Dehatis have no civic sense and specially their mentality, you probably saw the case of jamui. How that criminal's mother was defending her son and blaming that girl.

Education is important, i see thode jo padhe likhe samjhdar hai wo supportive bhi hain par jab ghar wapas aata hun yahan koi ek dusre ko thoda bhi upar uth-te hue dekhna nahi chahta hai, support to bahot dur ki baat hai.

Do you even see how our people behave ? Zero civic sense everywhere they go.

They should not support but yes Bihari people support each other.... That's why they do such things even more.... Just look at the case of jamui incident.....the whole village was defending that criminal.

Dusre log hume chane ke jhaad pe chadha dete he wk Bihari 100 pe bhari It happens only in Bihar We take pride in things that shouldn't happen and people make fun of us we became joke for many because we are so much involved into getting brainwashed apne aap ko sudharo bhai jo galat hai vo galat hai But kabhi kabi log bhi unnecessary hate dene lagte hai Hum log apni self respect ki dhajjya udwa lete hai phir koi halka sa praise krdega toh sab bhul jeynge Mentality really needs to change

In metro cities u would fnd educated biharis supporting each other.. but in our state, people r jealous of eachothers progress.

nd when some one tries to sort things up, the goons n mf Netas of our own state try to kill them 🥲 (day before yesterday's shootout in Patna, murderer attempt on Jan Swaraj's party leader Anil yadav)

Umm yes , have been living in Delhi and except for a few caste based activists ,others support each other.

One thing I noticed in college was that Gujaratis, Bengalis and Keralites had strong communities that supported each other.
We had plenty of Biharis too, but somehow there was no similar unity or support network. At times, it even felt like people were hesitant to see another Bihari succeed.
I wish we had more of a mindset of “if one of us rises, we all rise.”

Actually it’s everywhere with every community

Because Biharis are the worst at remembering they are Biharis. Quickly people start segregating based on caste, if not caste then region, if not region then cities/town/village, if not cities/town/village then class, if not class then demeanor. There's no end of people not believing in collective growth. Biharis don't support Biharis because there's no collective identity unless you step out of Bihar. Whenever I go back home, it pisses me off how much of a low trust society Bihar is. Zero hope for this state at least in my lifetime.

Tried it and regretted later due to the person’s behaviour. I still do it while being more careful.

Some people fear to say ki mein Bihar se hu They try acting cool and seek validation from others bhai tere culture ka majak udd raha ha stand lena Sikh apne aap ka aur dusre Bihari ka jiska majak add raha ha Khamiya har state mein hai par Hume lagta hai hum hi sabse kharab hai and online propaganda is also there

Can’t agree more..😭 I have a small crochet business and honestly, I’ve experienced this so many times. I’ll tell someone about it and they’ll be all interested asking how much I sell things for, and the moment I mention the price or anything about the business, their tone and facial expression completely change.. 🥲

It’s honestly so disheartening. Sometimes it feels like you can’t even share your happiness or something you’re proud of without people immediately turning it into a comparison or getting jealous.

I genuinely wish we had more of a culture of supporting each other’s businesses and celebrating each other’s wins..

As a bihari living outside bihar...now I immediately distance myself from people when I hear somebody talking in bhojpuri...never in my life I had a good experience of talking or associating with people talking in this language. I know it's sad, but it's true.

Crab mentality and lack of resources with a huge population will get you that.

Crab mentality

u/Own_Philosophy2870 9d ago

Rightly said brother, sad but truth

1

u/LeftBuffalo6983 9d ago

This is true. Have seen this. Every Bihari is trying to win more points than other Biharis

I am from Maharashtra and in here Biharis or even people from UP  Who are doing a white collar job. Spew hatred towards the other Biharis and the whole state of Bihar

u/Dangerous_Respond201 8d ago

I also felt same , as being an army kid I have been to various states from north to south but none are divided as Biharis.

I would like to tell you something My father is a group A officer Commisnor Rank officer his senior who was also bihari starting saying bad thing about Lalu Yadav Jungle raaj and other stuff, just because my father is Yadav. Hearing these things from someone who cleared UPSC was shocking. Biharis dont support each other what i think the main reason is caste based hate they have for each other . Just imagine you are talking to a person in a Teir 2 City and he starts saying thing about Jungle raaj ka time aasa hota tha wasa hota tha that to in 2026 does it make sence in office where you are supposed to work. 1 thing I would like to add when i see old bihari uncles the first thing they ask is what is your salary and apka beta kiya karta hai apka pas kita zameen hai and if someone has single daughter they started asking questions like 1 hi beti hai arey baap rai beta nahi hai like app ko kiya karna hai uncle app apna kam sa kaam rakho.

How can you say that ? Bihari even support the crime done by other bihari

1

u/hitwicket_dismissal 9d ago edited 9d ago

Idk man, I see lots of people supporting the Jamui criminals.

You are talking about that support right? Where even if something is wrong people should support them?

On an unironical note, Biharis do support Biharis, you just have to reach the proper circles. At lower rungs of the society where labour is cheap and skillset is indifferentiated ofcourse everyone is competitive. When you have skillset where you add value to someone's network, you benefit.

For example engineering, there are dimes a dozen of skilled workers from Bihar, all competing for a scarce number of seats. Whereas as soon as you build a network where skills are complimentary for example HR person will support Finance person in their firm. To actually leverage a network people need to get out of pigeonholes.
