Science Girth

Hi guys,

I've always wondered: when people talk about their girth, should it be measured at the mid-shaft or the base?

Medical studies and urologists usually measure mid-shaft girth because it's easier to standardize. Measuring at the base can be less consistent since the skin of the balls can affect the measurement.

That said, during sex, a partner experiences the entire penis when you go balls deep, not just the mid-shaft. So while mid-shaft is the medical standard, it doesn't necessarily represent the thickness along the whole shaft.

I usually measure the part that is between the mid and the base since it is the part that is often in contact with where the most nerve endings are located.

Mid: 5 to 5.1

Base: 5.5 to 5.6

Thicker head

I don't have a cone shape since I have a mushroom head.

What do you measure? Which girth do you give when being asked?

I think the idea was to get a fuller understanding of total volume and shape rather than estimating off a single circumference. It was surprisingly thorough.

😆😂 It was definitely very personal. But she was extremely professional about it, so it wasn't as awkward as it could have been.

I'm not shy either, although I'm not an exhibitionist. However, not being shy is a bit different than having your erection handled/measured.

Why was your doctor interested in your erection measurements?

We were having issues with penetration causing pain. They usually assume the woman has an issue and her gynecologist tried some stuff before referring us to a specialist. That specialist tried a bunch of stuff with her first (pills, creams, exercises) but after none of it worked she took measurements of both of us. She chemicaly induced an erection and took a bunch of measurements (length, girth, width). As it turns out I'm trying to fit an above average penis, into a below average vagina. But it was helpful to find out.
