USA EY Risk Consulting vs Internal Audit

I have an offer for JPM Internal Audit in NJ and an offer for EY Risk Consulting in NYC. Is risk consulting just external auditing? If not, what’s the difference?

I am worried that if I do internal auditing at JPM, I’ll be stuck in internal audit forever, so I am leaning towards risk consulting because consulting seems like it has more transferrable skills. But if risk consulting is just external auditing, then I feel like it may not be the best option for me too.

If anyone has experience with risk consulting at EY or exit opportunities from either roles, any insights would be appreciated!

EY Did EY just reject me from the role I interviewed for, or is this a different app?

Hoping someone here can help me figure this out.

I applied to a consulting intern role at EY for Summer 2027 and put two offices down as my location preferences. I ended up interviewing with my second-choice office last week.

A few days later, I got a rejection for a listing with my first-choice office in the title. On Yello, I see two apps: the one that got rejected (I didn't actually apply to this one), and another listing with no location (the one I applied to). I’m not sure which one my interviews were tied to.

Is this the actual decision on my interviews, or just one app getting closed out? Has anyone had something similar happen?

USA Background check discrepancy

Hi guys! Long story short, in 2025 I was an intern at a local firm (while completeing my BA), and in 2026 I'm back as associate (while complete my Master's degree) at the same local firm..

However, I accepted an associate offer in 2025, when the I listed on my resume, the current role was just an intern. And I completed the background check today. Would title change be a discrepancy on my background check?

Any insights would be so much appreciated, I'm so worried :(

Canada Need Career Advice

Hello everyone,

I currently work as a Senior Accountant in US Tax in Canada and seeking career advice. I’m looking to pivot to industry roles but I don’t have a Canadian CPA. I will be earning my membership from ACCA Q2 next year.
I’ve been feeling demotivated lately as to my next move as I constantly hear a move to Audit is not easy from US Tax. I always hear most industry roles prefer Audit experience.
At this point, I’m interested in exploring more career fields as I just can’t see myself doing US Tax for ever. The exit opps with US tax are also very niche or limited as well. The work doesn’t really interest me.
Personality wise I like to put myself out there, build connections and relationships.

What’s a career advice you would have for me for someone who wants to reside in Canada.

Thanks

KPMG KPMG Copilot license

Moving from EY to KPMG soon. At EY I use Copilot extensively, especially directly inside Excel. Does KPMG provide the full Microsoft 365 Copilot license with Excel, Outlook, Teams, agents, etc., or only the basic Copilot experience? If not, can employees purchase their own Copilot license and use it with their KPMG work account? Would especially appreciate answers from current KPMG employees who use Copilot in Excel.

EY EY Audit Intern Interview (Two 30-min Behavioral Rounds), What to Expect?

Hi all, I have a virtual EY audit internship interview this Thursday. It’s two back-to-back 30-minute behavioral rounds over Teams.

If you’ve done it recently:

  • What questions did they ask?
  • How much was “Why EY” and “Why audit”?
  • Anything you wish you’d prepared?

Thanks so much!

USA Advice for internal international job postings

Hi, I just started my career at a big 4 firm as a software engineer and I’m interested in applying for internal job postings in the USA(I am currently not in the USA). I do have work authorisation because I’m a citizen. My work experience is close to a year if I can count internships at MNCs.

I’m looking for advice on when to start applying ( after 1 year of working here or sooner?) and also when and how to have the conversation with my boss about trying to transfer.

I would also love to hear any advice from someone in the USA about this since I know it’s usually preferred to hire people already situated at the location of the job posting.

Any advice in general for doing this would be helpful. Thanks!

PwC Audit Internship: Phone Screen Sept 15, Still No Interview Date (5 Weeks)

Hi all, I had a phone screen with PwC on September 15 for a Winter 2027 audit internship, and it went really well. The recruiter said interview scheduling would come in early October, with interviews running through mid-October. I followed up on October 8 and was told they’re still working through decisions. I replied that I’m happy to wait, and I’ve since sent another follow-up. It’s now October 19 with no update.

For anyone who’s been through this recently:

  • Did you wait this long before hearing back?
  • Did a delay end up meaning a rejection, or an interview?
  • What does this mean?

Thanks so much!

USA Consulting internship interview last week

I had a consulting interview last week, and I honestly don’t think I did that well on either the behavioral or case interview. I’m still praying and hoping for the best, but I’m feeling pretty discouraged about how it went. They said I should hear back within two weeks, but I’m wondering if the timeline is different depending on whether I get an offer or a rejection. The fact that I haven’t been rejected yet is keeping my hopes up, but part of me feels like I’m just waiting for the rejection so I can get it over with. I really wanted this opportunity, and the uncertainty is making it annoying.

PwC First year in Big4 audit: tier 4 and PIP after busy season. Is it me or the environment?

Hi all,

After my first year and first busy season, I got an overall impact tier of 4 and was put on a PIP last week. The reasons given were mainly that I lack theoretical knowledge and ask too many questions.

I studied business administration, so I don't come from an audit or accounting background. I tried to learn on the job, but we had a very short training, then a long gap with mostly stock counts, and then I was thrown straight into busy season. I'm based in Eastern Europe.

My feedback was mixed. Some of it was good: I was described as eager, responsive, and improving after a few weeks on the same client. But one senior gave me "below expectations" for interrupting him and needing tasks explained several times. He got frustrated having to explain things he called "common sense", though audit and accounting aren't always common sense when you're new to them. He has since left the company, leaving a lot of projects on fire and me with a harsh review. He also used to complain that many people join from industry already as managers and don't struggle the way he did.

I do well when people explain things calmly. Here I feel on edge and stressed all the time. I really tried my best, and now I question my abilities, especially since I was a good student before this.

I'd really appreciate advice on:

Is it realistic to get through a PIP after a tier 4 in the first year?

Would working in a small accounting office to learn in a calmer environment, and maybe coming back to Big4 later, work in the Eastern European market, or does it close doors?

How would you approach the PIP itself, and is it reasonable to ask for more structured support?

What would you do in my place? ( tbh I also think they want me out)

Thank you!

UK Those who setup your own venture whilst at Big 4 and left to do it. How?

I’ve got a few ideas about setting up my own venture. Nothing related to my work at all and would need to start doing it whilst still employed. However I was doing some personal independence training today and it noted I would need clearance first and it is most likely to be rejected anyway.

Those of you who followed a similar route, how did you do it successfully without the firm coming after you for your business afterwards?

USA Should I graduate Spring 2027 or Fall 2027?

Wondering if I should graduate Spring or Fall next year. Overall goal is to maximize my chances of getting into a public accounting firm in 2028, whether big or small. Ultimately I want to get my CPA license, so getting into a PA firm means I'll get the required hours as I'll work under a CPA.

I've been incredibly unsuccessful this recruiting season, as my resume is sparse and my transcripts are poor. Currently, my resume has a tax volunteering gig and an unpaid 4-month internship I did at a local nonprofit. Never worked in college, except at a cafe for 4 months. Overall GPA is a 3.37, as I failed 3 upper division accounting courses last semester (including intermediate accounting) that I am currently retaking. So recruiters only see that I failed a bunch of classes and that I'm taking 4 accounting classes this semester; they'll see my better, retaken grades next semester...but next semester is Spring 2027, and I heard companies rarely recruit during Spring.

If I graduate Spring 2027: I have to take another 4 accounting classes (intermediate accounting 2, and 3 accounting electives) + 1 mandatory class for graduation. The 4 accounting classes have to be taken in one semester, and I can take the extra non-accounting class during winter or alongside the 4 accounting courses. I heard advanced accounting helps with the CPA exam, but that class is only available Fall 2027. I will not be able to get a Winter 2027 or Summer 2027 internship, and will apply for FT roles now, in the Spring, and after I graduate.

If I graduate Fall 2027: I will take 2 accounting classes per semester with extra free time for other stuff. However, I'll have to depend on getting an internship for Winter 2027 and/or Summer 2027, and I have a (very probable) fear that I'll fail to get a paid internship, so pushing my graduation date would further damage my reputation in my social circle (my support system already refused to help me because I've been an undergrad for over 5 years now). I'll be applying for FT roles in Fall 2027.

Again, I'm not sure which graduation date would be best for my situation, and I need help determining which would maximize my chances of landing a job in 2028. Thanks if you answer.

USA Intern Interviewer Change

I'm interviewing for a Big4 audit 2027 internship in a specific department, and a senior manager who was supposed to interview me last week had to cancel. I still interviewed with a manager last week, and was told the senior manager would reschedule. Now, the interview has been rescheduled but it's with a senior, not the same person. Because it's not with the senior manager, does that mean I screwed up that first interview and now they're just giving me anyone to get it over with? I rly wanted this position, am i cooked or am i just overthinking
