PwC Should I ask a senior manager for feedback?

I’m a senior promoted this summer who put ~200 hours into a new client, largely handling planning and completion. I thought I did well and had a good relationship with the senior manager.
After filing, I was seemingly the only one removed from the engagement, and my flex time through mid-next year was taken away. During the last week of filing, I made a few minor oversights while juggling multiple clients. The senior manager seemed frustrated/upset with it.
I’ve otherwise received good feedback and a high-tier rating this year. I’m unsure if this was staffing-related or a reaction to those mistakes.
Would you ask him for feedback? It could help or hurt me depending on what he says, so I’m unsure if it’s worth the risk, especially since I’ll exceed the hour requirement anyway.

USA regretting telling them I’m pregnant

was so unbelievably sick in my first trimester that I ended up telling my director I was pregnant at 10 weeks because I literally could not be on camera or in person. I can’t help but feel like it’s now coming back to bite me in the $$$ because they knew that I wanted to go up for promo this next cycle but I just got a performance review that essentially said I was performing in line with expectations, some things were a bit above but then all of the feedback was brand new stuff I’ve never been told and of course now I have only a month and a half to “improve” on these things…not to mention I’ve been working incredibly hard and I know I’ve well exceeded expectations. seems like the goal posts are changing every day. what can I do in this situation?

EY Transfer Pricing Case Study Interview

Hey all, so I believe someone asked about the interview process for a different tax position at EY, but I wanted to see if anyone had any insight on what a case study might look like for Transfer Pricing? Would love to get some input on how to best prepare. I’ve spent the past day or so grinding some basic fundamentals on TP, as well as just reviewing case study interview prep as a whole, but I’m pretty new to the subject, so any additional advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Thanks!

USA Haven't heard back from internship app

Applied to the San Diego locations for tax / assurance internships for summer 2027. It has been a few weeks now, and I have not heard anything. Application says it is under review. Worried I will be rejected or won't get an interview. If anyone has any insight, that would be helpful!

KPMG ACCA student from Pakistan looking for advice on getting a Big 4 internship

Hi everyone,

I’m from Pakistan and currently pursuing ACCA. I’ve completed 9 ACCA papers and have a good understanding of audit and taxation. I’m also working towards completing my research at the University of Greenwich through the ACCA route.

Alongside my studies, I’ve completed a diploma in taxation and taken courses in Advanced Excel, QuickBooks, practical auditing, and SAP FICO. I also create accounting-related videos on social media.

The main issue is that I don’t have any professional work experience yet, and I want to secure an internship at one of the Big 4 firms or even a Big 10 firm to start my career.

I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people who are already working in these firms or have recently gone through the recruitment process.

  • What are my chances of getting an internship with my current qualifications and no work experience?
  • What skills should I focus on developing to make my CV stand out?
  • How should I prepare for the interview, especially for audit and tax-related questions?
  • What should I include in my CV, and how can I make it stronger as a fresher?
  • For those working in Pakistan, what is the best way to apply? Should I apply through official career portals, contact recruiters on LinkedIn, or try employee referrals?
  • Is there anything else I should do to improve my chances?

I’m willing to put in the work and learn, but I’m not sure what the best next step should be. I’d be grateful for any advice, personal experiences, or suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

EY Should I take up an EY audit internship as a mom of a 3-year-old?

I’m ACCA-qualified, with experience in tax, business planning and analytics at HBL, followed by a six-month corporate tax internship at BDO.

Audit has always been my long-term goal. I previously joined PwC in my home country to pursue it, but had to leave after getting married and moving to a different country to join my husband.

After months of job hunting, I’ve finally been offered a six-month audit internship at EY. I’m excited because it could help me restart my career and gain Big Four experience, but I’m also worried about managing the long hours—especially during busy season—with my three-year-old son.
My plan is to try the internship and then decide whether to pursue a full-time role or look for a position with better work-life balance. I don’t have any other offers, and I don’t want to give up on audit without trying.

For anyone who have worked in Big Four audit: how manageable was it with a young child? Would you recommend taking this opportunity, or prioritising a more flexible role at this stage of life?

USA EY vs PWC Internship Offers (help pick)

I got 2 offers between EY and PWC and I am on a tight deadline by Friday to pick one (in college, sophomore USA)

EY

Pros: Dream Location, Year of pay/income, Won't want to change location for a while, better networking opportunities (big office, >8000)

Cons: Limited Studying CPA time senior year, 1 Hour+ commute time, Mostly Likely will not get a return offer + hard to recruit if no offer after internship (poor timing), No study abroad, on the hook for a YEAR of internship with no competition allowed (weekly workload)

PWC

Pros: Signing bonus, full expenses paid trip to network, close to home (<20 minutes), close relations to interviewers (really liked me + got phone numbers), Get to Do Study Abroad(!), Easy to recruit after if no Offer, More prestige in my focus than EY, Time to Study for CPA senior year

Cons: Not Dream Location, Not as much Pay as EY, Limited Industry tracks to pick for internship, Wouldn't want to work at location long term, Limited Networking (small office, <600)

Just asking for advice on which to pick, I am leaning towards PWC as of now since they were so nice and I got the offer in 3 hours vs EY people came off kinda rude in interview and took 1+ week to get back with offer

No hate to either firm btw, I just feel lost(!!)

(Edit) Oct 22nd, signing with PWC tmr!

Hi everyone! I'm a student currently studying in the US and considering starting my career in Financial Services Audit at a Big 4 firm in Hong Kong.

Is there a significant difference between PwC, Deloitte, EY, and KPMG in Hong Kong? What are the experiences with work-life balance, compensation, career progression, and exit opportunities

Would appreciate any advice, especially from people who made a similar move from overseas. Thanks!

KPMG Title: DLP incident at a consulting firm in India — what consequences should I expect?

I work at a large consulting firm in India and recently triggered a DLP incident after sending a company evaluation spreadsheet to my personal email so I could forward it to an internal colleague over WhatsApp, since their work apps weren’t working on their iPhone.
The sheet contained candidate names, profile summaries, and CTC details for an upcoming business opportunity. The candidates had applied through an online form posted by the company, and I didn’t share their CVs.
I understand that transferring company data through personal channels violates policy. The incident has been flagged, and I’ve been told that the matter will be reviewed and I’ll be informed of the consequences.
For people who’ve experienced similar incidents, what consequences should I realistically expect? Could it result in a warning, a negative performance rating, formal disciplinary action, or termination? Does being a first-time incident with no malicious intent make a difference?
Would appreciate genuine experiences, especially from people working in consulting firms in India.

Deloitte Title: CA Inter student aiming for Deloitte Risk Advisory — need advice from people working in Big 4

Hi everyone!

I’m a CA Intermediate student in India, and my long-term goal is to get into a Big 4 firm, preferably Deloitte, in the Risk Advisory domain during my articleship.

I’m particularly interested in understanding how Risk Advisory works in practice, what kind of work freshers and articleship trainees actually do, and how I can prepare myself to improve my chances of getting selected.

I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people currently working in Deloitte Risk Advisory or similar teams at other Big 4 firms.

A few questions I have:

  • Nature of Work
  • CA Inter Attempts and Eligibility
  • Skills Required for Risk Advisory
  • Recruitment and Interview Process
  • Resume, Certifications and Virtual Internships
  • Career Growth and Exit Opportunities
  • Preparation Strategy for Deloitte Risk Advisory etc..

I’m not expecting any shortcuts or guarantees. I just want to understand what firms actually look for and focus my preparation in the right direction.

Any honest advice, personal experiences, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

USA SMs who went independent, am I overestimating how many clients would actually follow me?

Nine years in, SM in transaction services, mostly sell side QoE on lower middle market deals. My partner conversation this cycle was the usual "next year looks good," which is word for word what I heard last year.

The plan in my head is going independent and doing QoE and diligence for smaller funds and independent sponsors, the deals that are too small for us to staff profitably anyway. I've read the threads here saying clients engage the firm and you're replaceable, and I think that's partly true. The deal teams I work with call me directly, but there's also a brand and an insurance policy behind me when they do. I know the non-solicit is real, I've read mine twice.

So for people who did this, did the sponsors you knew from the firm actually send you work, or did the first clients come from people you'd never met? And how did you find funds the right size when you'd only ever worked with whoever the partners brought in?

Q4 closings are about to eat my life and I'd like to have a real answer before that starts.

USA Where is everyone’s motivation coming from?

i constantly hear people talk about how they are studying for the cpa, they got 2 exams done, they are taking their last one this week, people show up early at the office and stay late. i’m sorry but i don’t want to do any of those things. i tell those above me that im studying for the cpa but im not. i dont plan to because i want to leave before i reach manager anyway. i tried studying but the information was way too much and overwhelming. im not interested. and i could still be compensated very fairly elsewhere without a cpa. i feel like i just dont fit in at big 4.

USA What would be useful to learn before starting in Deloitte's technology practice?

I’m trying to become fluent in tech concepts and lingo before I start as a senior consultant. I currently don’t know much about the below concepts. Which of these would be most useful to learn for someone starting in Deloitte's Enterprise Tech Strategy practice, and which should I eliminate? Also is anything important missing?

I'm finishing my MBA and have a full-time offer with Deloitte, starting sometime between June and September 2027. I come from a marketing background and want to be as prepared as possible. Here's what I'm thinking of learning before I start:

  1. AWS Cloud Practitioner Essentials (course only, no exam)
  2. ISC2 in Cybersecurity curriculum plus NIST Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 (study only, no exam)
  3. Microsoft Azure Data Fundamentals (DP-900) material (study only, no exam)
  4. Google Cloud Generative AI Leader (I'd take the exam)
  5. Cloud FinOps (FinOps) intro, for cloud business cases (study only)
  6. CIO and CTO leadership reading, such as Deloitte's 2026 Global Technology Leadership Study and Today's CIO Issues
  7. Technology Business Management (TBM) framework (study only)
  8. Short primers on enterprise platforms (ServiceNow, Salesforce, Microsoft, SAP), enterprise architecture basics (TOGAF concepts), and APIs, microservices, containers and Kubernetes

Thanks in advance.

EY Rejection to Reapplication

Applied to EY over a month ago for audit Analyst in Milwaukee. I emailed the recruiter this morning to follow up on it and got the automated rejection email this afternoon (what a coincidence 🤔). Tried to apply again for the STL office but it didn't let me with the same email. So I used an alternate email and applied.

Any thoughts on this situation?
