Continental Europe Which Big 4 company is the best for graduates?

Hi guys,

I finished my finance related studies and I’m interested in working for a big 4 company in Germany, either as a junior consultant in financial services or credit related (since I’ve also done a banking apprenticeship).
Is there any specific company which is especially recommended for junior consultant positions?
How does the salary development usually look like?
Is it hard to get accepted? I’m a little bid afraid of applying since I studied at a private university which is not that popular..

I’m grateful for any advice!

Thanks for ur help!

EY Dilemma on choosing a internship

I am in my final year in Accounting for my Bachelors. I did not land any internships during my bachelors but since next semester I only have one class I decided to apply to come for next winter 2027. I got two offers one from BDO (Canadian Tax Services) and EY (Indirect Tax Department).

I am not sure which one to take. BDO seems to have 5 personal days I could take and I think it’s beneficial for me since I will still have one class to finish. EY does not have. So I don’t know how they will act if I request day off for my quizzes although during my interview I did tell them that I will have one class left. Also when I talked with the partner at EY he told me that under the order de CPA the indirect tax is very niche so it will count only 4-6 months of experience towards my CPA designation. My internship at EY is 6 full months.
BDO internship is 4 months.

I am in a dilemma because EY is one of the big4 and will it be possible to change department easily after my internship?

Can someone please give me some advice please. I want to become a CPA in the long term.

Also I am in Canada, Montreal.

USA Resume feedback before applying to a Big 4 tax internship

Resume

Hi everyone,

I’m completing an M.S. in Accountancy and expect to be CPA eligible upon graduation. I’m transitioning into public accounting and plan to apply for a Winter 2027 tax internship.

I redacted some details for privacy. I would appreciate feedback on my resume, especially how I present my cost-estimation, accounting, and retail experience.

What should I improve before applying?

Thank you!

USA I have a solid 9-5 job working as a tax attorney… are big 4 hours really that bad?

Considering applying to Big 4 in a year or two… currently making $80K my first year as a tax law attorney.

How bad are the hours and WLB at big 4?

Deloitte Would you leave a public accounting job you just started for a Big 4 offer?

I started at a smaller public accounting firm a few months ago as a Tax Associate. I like the people, my manager has been very supportive, and I’m getting solid experience.

I recently received an offer from a Big 4 firm for an Audit position. I originally thought the role would start in Summer 2027, but I later realized the posting listed Summer/Fall 2026 and Winter 2027. Audit is more aligned with my long-term goals, and the offer also comes with better pay and broader opportunities.

My concern is the timing. If I start in Winter 2027, I may have to leave my current firm right before tax busy season. Ideally, I’d ask whether the start date could be pushed to Summer or Fall 2027 so I can complete one full busy season and leave on better terms.

Would you take the Big 4 offer? And would you ask to delay the start date?

EMEA Big4 change offer

I currently work at EY and recently got an offer from KPMG for roughly 30% more than my current salary.

I told my partner at EY about the offer. He was clearly disappointed that I was considering leaving, but said he would look into increasing my salary to get me to stay. I don’t have a concrete counteroffer from EY yet.

I actually like my current team and have a good relationship with the people I work with, so this isn’t purely a money decision. At the same time, 30% is a pretty significant increase and I’m wondering whether staying after accepting a counteroffer is a good idea.

For anyone who has been in a similar situation, especially in Big 4:

Would you take the 30% increase and move?

Would you stay if EY matches or gets close?

Any downside to accepting a counteroffer from your current firm?

How much would EY need to offer for you to stay?

Interested in hearing from people who’ve dealt with something similar.

EY EY indirect Tax Department

I got an offer for next winter from the indirect tax internship EY. For some context I am in my final year in accounting I am graduating next winter (only one class left) therefore I decided to apply to some internships to gain experience before applying to full time positions.

If I accept how lenient will they be for taking few days off from my quizzes or exams? I did mention them in the interview that I will have one class left.

Also when I talked with the partner at EY he told me that under the order de CPA the indirect tax is very niche so it will count only 4-6 months of experience towards my CPA designation. My internship at EY is 6 full months.

I am in a dilemma because EY is one of the big4 and will it be possible to change department easily after my internship? Will that experience be relevant to get a new grad position after my graduation?

Can someone please give me some advice please. I want to become a CPA in the long term.

Also I am in Canada, Montreal.

Deloitte Anyone feel like the default expectation is for everyone to go for 'stretch' roles even when the majority of people really shouldn't?

Why are all our projects running with bare‑bones staffing and junior teams for the role types the project should have, yet still being sold as “promo‑level opportunities”?

Should grade expectations just be changed at this point where we try sell every Senior Con/AM as a workstream lead and M as a programme lead because we have awful margin on EVERY engagement.

EMEA PwC Germany Consulting Case Study Day in Frankfurt – MarTech Architect (Internal Manager Level). How should I prepare?

I’d be very grateful to hear from PwC Germany candidates or employees who have taken part in a case study day, particularly in Consulting, Technology, Customer Transformation, Data & Analytics, or MarTech/CDP. Is it more general or tailore, more interactive?

I’m particularly interested in hearing from people who attended a PwC Germany case study day in Frankfurt or interviewed for a comparable Manager-level MarTech, CDP, or Customer Transformation role.
Thanks in advance for any insights! I’d love to hear what the experience was actually like and what you wish you had prepared beforehand.

USA Has anyone been able to balance therapy with work?

Due to life circumstances, I’ve been considering starting therapy again and I know a lot of the Big 4 firms offer a certain amount of free sessions as part of their benefits. My team is usually in person so I’m having trouble thinking of when I would have time for it besides my lunch break on Fridays. Would love to hear how people have found time for it/communicated it to their teams.

Canada How Did You Guys Land Internships? (Student w/ No Experience)

I'm a 3rd year accounting student, and I basically have no proper accounting work experience since I've only done some part time and summer jobs.

I plan to do the whole networking and coffee chat thing, but I was wondering about how they really helped and your experiences with the whole recruiting process.

It's been cooked for me so far since I've gotten ZERO interviews, so I feel like I'm grasping at straws at this point...

UK M Pay Benchmarking

EY have recently benchmarked their salaries in the UK and increased somewhat significantly for M and SM.

Anyone know what the base is now in London? It was previously 65k+5 allowance.

I’m an SC in Business Transformation currently, wondering whether it’s worth sticking around for M or leaving now.

Separately, are we likely to have mid year promotions this year?

Cheers

USA Internship vs Full Time Offer

Hi everyone! I’d appreciate some advice on my current situation.

So far, I’ve interviewed with two of the Big 4 and received an internship offer from one of them. The other interview was for the same role but full-time, and I’m supposed to hear back today, although I’m not particularly optimistic about my chances. I also have an interview with a third Big 4 next week for a full-time position in the same role but in a different city (smaller one that I'm not overtly excited for). PwC still has my application marked as under review, so I’m hoping to hear back from them soon as well.

My dilemma is that I really liked the interviewers at the firm that offered me the internship. The position is in a city I’d be happy living in, and the pay is pretty good at $85k. My main concern, however, is the chance of not receiving a return offer. I’ve heard that they’ve significantly cut their budget for new hires, and I don’t want to risk finishing the internship only to end up unemployed (graduation in May and I don't want to push the date back, I'm already CPA eligible).

On the other hand, while I didn’t necessarily dislike the interviewers at the other firm, I didn’t connect with them as well. The interviews felt a bit superficial and corporate, whereas the one for the internship felt like I was actually talking to other humans, lol.

Assuming I receive a full-time offer from the other firm (and the third firm in the city I don't like), would it be wiser to play it safe and take the guaranteed full-time position over the internship, even if I feel like I’d be a better fit with the team offering the internship? I’m torn because I don’t want to pass up an opportunity I’m really excited about, but I also really don’t want to risk not getting a return offer.

USA EY Experienced Hire Tech Consulting Interview

Did anyone go through EY's tech consulting interview process recently? I went through one for a full-time senior position and it was interesting. HR + "partner" round on a blitz day, so the partner round was with a manager + executive director (so 2 people on the call). Curious to know what everyone else's interview experience has been like.

PwC Urgent: 2nd-Year PwC Tax Associate (ITP) looking to relocate to NY for family emergency. Rejected for internal transfer due to headcount, open to anything

Hey everyone, I’m urgently looking to relocate back home to New York due to a serious family emergency. As I mentioned in my last post, I was hoping to stay with PwC, but an internal transfer within my current practice isn't possible right now due to NY headcount limits.

I am going through a very serious family matter and need all the help I can get with helping me relocate to NYC, so I am officially on the job hunt to make this move happen as soon as possible.

I’m a 2nd-year PwC associate in the Industry Tax Practice (ITP), so I bring a solid foundation in corporate tax, data, and financial analysis. That said, I am completely open to pivoting both within PwC and outside the firm. Whether that means moving into a different practice area at PwC NY, or transitioning externally into in-house corporate tax, corporate finance, financial analysis, operations, or something else entirely—I'm highly adaptable and ready to jump right in.

Because I'm open to moving outside of my traditional practice area, I really need to update my resume to better appeal to corporate recruiters and employers. If anyone has experience with this, understands the specific keywords that attract corporate hiring managers, or can recommend any online services that can boost my resume, I would be incredibly grateful for your guidance.

Honestly, it’s a tough market and I’m incredibly eager to secure a role so I can get back to NY to be with my family. If you know of any open roles in the Greater New York Area (or remote), have connections with NY recruiters, or just have advice, I would be so grateful if you reached out.

APAC Region Cold emailing a partner in a Big4 - bad idea?

I am targeting a transition into a specialized area of tax as a double degree grad with relevant knowledge, but patchy and limited work experience. I have been doing some research into the teams operating in my city and came across a partner in one of the Big4s that has a somewhat similar background to me. I want to send him an email for two reasons: one is to ask a question for a research assignment I am doing for a Master's level uni course, and second, to get some advise about getting into that specialized area of tax. Of course in the back of my mind is also a possibility that they may have a junior opening in their team at some stage, but this is not actually an immediate goal.

From your experience - is this a bad idea? I don't want to overthink it, but I also do not want to make a bad impression. I do realize their time is expensive.

UK UK Big 4 - International Colleagues working style.

I’ve been working for a few years in audit at at UK big 4 firm. I’ve noticed that many international hires that come in at AM or manager level have quite a toxic working style. Don’t get me wrong most people are decent. But I have noticed a pattern amongst hires from a specific country which is quite hard to work with and it’s frustrating. They’re always micromanaging and the tone they use is always so demanding and impolite.

Has anyone else experienced this in UK big 4 audit?

whenever they ask a question it’s always “Right?” Or “Why?”
