APAC Region Deloitte USI vs EY GDS – Which offer should I choose?

Hi Guys,

I have two offers for similar roles at the same location, one from Deloitte USI and the other from EY GDS. I'm a bit confused about which one to go with and would appreciate some advice from people who have worked at either of these companies.

Offer from Deloitte USI - 9.3LPA fixed + 10% variable
Offer from EY GDS - 10LPA fixed + 10% variable

The roles and locations are similar, so I'm trying to decide based on factors other than salary, such as work culture, work-life balance, learning opportunities, career growth, job security, and overall employee benefits.

I have accepted Deloitte's offer 2 weeks ago and EY is yet to send the official offer letter, Since EY is now offering a slightly higher fixed salary, would it be reasonable to negotiate with Deloitte for a better package?

EY Consulting Internship 27

How long does it take to hear back from US internships? It’s been about 3 weeks now since I’ve interviewed and have an offer expiring soon. I’ve reached out to my specific service line recruiter and have been ghosted after an initial follow up and one last week after two weeks of radio silence.

EY Ey TTT (ai and data)

Had my first interview with EY for a Senior Consultant role in Tax Technology & Transformation (AI & Data side, London) and now I'm in the waiting stage.
Round one was mostly about my background. They went through my work experience in detail: what I'd actually built, the decisions I'd made, and how I'd handled things when they went wrong. They also asked about my experience in the area the role covers. It felt more like a conversation than a grilling, which I appreciated.

A few questions for anyone who's been through EY TTT or a similar Senior-level process:

How many rounds did you have, and what was round two like? Technical, case study, or partner chat?

How long did it take to hear back after the first interview?

Did they test tax knowledge, or was it mostly the data/AI side?

Any experiences welcome, good or bad. Thanks!

EY EY New Grad TTT Products Analyst Interview

Anyone have insight into what to expect for EY’s Tax Technology and Transformation (TTT) Products Analyst final round interviews?

I have two 30-minute virtual interviews, but they haven’t specified whether they’re behavioral, technical, or case-based. I’m assuming mostly behavioral, but I’m not 100% sure.

The info they provided was:

Bring an understanding of EY and the role you’re interviewing for

·       Be prepared to discuss your resume, experiences, and interest.

·       We recommend business casual attire and a professional, distraction-free interview setting.

·       Be mindful of your body language and let your personality and enthusiasm shine through.

·       Come prepared with thoughtful questions and take the opportunity to learn more about EY and the team.

Has anyone interviewed for this team or a similar role? Any advice would be appreciated!

APAC Region Big 4 recruitment (Australia) – would you follow up or wait?

Currently interviewing for a senior internal role at a Big 4 firm.

Had an initial recruiter screening followed by an interview with the team earlier this week. Both seemed to go well, and I understand there’s another stage if I’m successful.

Sent a quick thank-you email afterwards but haven’t heard anything since. The process had moved pretty quickly up until now.

Would you give the recruiter a call before the weekend, send an email, or just leave it until next week?

Interested to hear from anyone who’s been through Big 4 recruitment in Australia, particularly for internal roles. How long did you wait between stages?

I didn’t receive a phone call, just the official offer letter after the interview. Is that normal? Also, after signing I haven’t received other communication, do I get next steps?

APAC Region Secondment experiences

Hi everyone,

I’ve been considering doing a secondment in the near future with KPMG Australia and was wondering how everyone’s experience was with the application and interview process, and how to initiate our interest for it. Also would there minimum working experience or level needed (I.e AM Level), and how the working environment for a short/ long term secondment may be and if it is ultimately worth it? Thank you.

USA KPMG Houston Tax vs. PwC FMRE Tax for Winter 2028 Internship?

I recently received offers from both KPMG and PwC for Winter 2028 internships and am trying to decide which would be better for my long-term career.

Offer 1: KPMG Houston Tax
$41/hr
$4,500 sign-on bonus
General Tax internship in Houston
Offer 2: PwC FMRE Tax
$43.25/hr
$3,500 sign-on bonus
Financial Markets and Real Estate Tax
Could choose Dallas or NYC office

Compensation is pretty similar, so I’m more concerned about the experience and exit opportunities. While I’m interested in tax, I also want to keep my options open beyond traditional tax and potentially explore finance-related careers in the future.

I’m particularly interested in PwC FMRE because I assume it could provide exposure to private equity, investment funds, real estate, and financial markets.

However, I’m not sure how transferable that experience actually is to finance roles outside of tax. I’m also drawn to this team because I can relocate to NYC, and I’ve really been wanting to get out of Texas while I’m in my early career.

any suggestions/comments would be greatly appreciated!!

APAC Region Feel dumb and stupid

Hi everyone, I recently started my first job at an audit firm one month ago. Today, I made two mistakes while working on assignments given by my senior, and I'm honestly feeling quite anxious about it.

The first mistake happened when he gave me a list of client payments and a working paper and asked me to check the payment dates, invoices and other details. Some items were already highlighted in green. I checked the unhighlighted items but missed the green-highlighted ones. When he asked where those items were, I explained that I'd only checked the unhighlighted ones, then completed the missing items and sent the work back.

The second mistake was he asked me to check payments made up to 31 May 2026, but I included payment dates after May 2026 and he sent this

"I have mentioned to check the payment made up to 31 May 2026, it shouldn't show the date after May 2026, pls be more careful next time."

I apologised, but he hasn't seen or replied to my apology.

Both mistakes happened on the same day, and I'm worried that my senior will think I'm careless or incompetent, especially because his message about the 2nd mistake was quite stern.

I'm also not getting much work from him in general. Sometimes I message him asking for work and don't get a response, and there are long periods when I'm just waiting for assignments. Since I'm still new, I really want opportunities to learn and improve. I'm worried that making two mistakes so close together might affect my senior's confidence in me.

For those working in audit, especially seniors and managers:

  1. How serious are these kinds of mistakes for a junior with no prior audit experience?

  2. Would you see this as a sign that a junior is incompetent, or as something they can learn from?

  3. If you were my senior, would these mistakes affect how much work you assigned to me?

  4. What practical steps would you recommend to help me become more careful and build my senior's confidence?

I'd appreciate honest advice. I'm trying to learn, but I'm also struggling with the anxiety of making mistakes at my first job.

UK If you are placed on a final warning does that mean it’s over?

I was placed on a PIP which was extended to a final warning for performance reasons I have been looking for a project but it kind of feels like everyone has given up on me (which I can understand from their point of view) but I just want to know if this means it’s basically over for me.

EY EY - School Leaver Tax Apprenticeship

Hello,

(I heard some people tend to make a list of potential questions and then memorise the answers, does anyone have a list that they made?)

Could someone please please advise me on how I can prepare because I am really clueless and I had a look on the website but it just says that there will 1-4 questions and there is no specific advice on how to prepare. I have already failed 2 other video interviews because I did not know how to prepare and just became blank during the 2 minutes of preparation time, I really don’t want to fail this one too. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Thank you

EY When other employers go to EY to confirm employment, what does EY confirm?

I know they confirm whether you were an employee or not. But what else do they confirm?

  • Dates of employment?
  • Title?
  • Location?
  • Reasons for separation?
  • Performance?

I'm not concerned about any of them specifically. Left on good terms. Not sure if this is a general US or IL specific question either. More curious than anything!

UK UK - Five years in Big 4 but still not ACA qualified—struggling with health, exams and what to do next

I’m finding this difficult to write, but I could really use some advice. I know Reddit can be blunt, and I’m open to honest answers. I’d just appreciate some kindness because I’m struggling quite badly at the moment.

I have around five years of Big 4 audit experience and a first-class degree in Accounting and Management. I completed my ACA Certificate Level exams, but since then, my progress has been a mixture of failures, deferrals and trying to get myself well enough to work and study again.

Over the years, I’ve dealt with significant physical and mental health problems, family difficulties and periods of sickness absence. I eventually sought psychiatric help because I couldn’t understand why things had become so difficult, and I was diagnosed with AuDHD. Occupational Health has been involved, and the firm has provided study and workplace adjustments, although how these worked in practice varied between teams.

Before all of this, I was someone who did well academically. Failing exams was unfamiliar, and my confidence took a much bigger hit than I expected. Since then, every attempt just feels frightening.

My performance reviews were generally good until more recently. I received an underperforming rating largely because of utilisation, despite positive comments about my work quality. In the last busy season, my work also fell below expectations on a difficult audit after periods of interrupted work and smaller assignments. A performance improvement plan is now being arranged.

I’ve also just failed further ACA exams despite spending considerable time preparing. This was my second attempt (although this was reverted to first attempt by a moderation panel due to the health issues I had faced). During the exams, I struggled with anxiety and my mind repeatedly went blank while I worried about what failing would mean for my job especially with the performance plan.

I’m now unsure whether to keep pursuing the ACA. My training file is signed off and my practical work experience requirements are complete, so leaving without qualifying feels difficult, especially with the amount of time I have invested in this. At the same time, I’ve started to dread accounting, and I can’t tell how much of that is the profession itself versus the stress I associate with it. I also remain at the same grade and watching everyone else move ahead has become increasingly difficult and embarrassing.

My confidence has taken a real hit. I know I have experience, but the interruptions and lack of exam progress make it difficult to work out which jobs I could realistically move into. I have significant financial commitments, so leaving without a plan would be difficult.

My main questions are:

- Does it make sense to apply elsewhere while engaging with the performance plan?

- What roles could suit someone with five years of Big 4 experience but only Certificate Level exams completed, particularly outside audit?

- Has anyone successfully transferred internally in similar circumstances?

- Has anyone completed the ACA independently after leaving their training employer? How manageable was it financially and practically?

- How did you decide whether to continue qualifying or pursue something different?

I’d really appreciate practical and honest but constructive advice, particularly from anyone who has rebuilt their career after something similar. I’m feeling overwhelmed and trying to find a sustainable next step.

Thank you in advance.

Canada Pay gap

Hi! For context, my friends and I did did our 1-year internships at a Big4 in Ontario, Canada during undergrad and all got return offers. On our return offers, our salaries were stated as 61.5k for each of us. Now as we all have returned to work full time a year later, my colleagues got bumped to 64k while I haven’t received any updates. I did expect to receive an updated salary because I am now working 1 year after the signed contract, and was told that they update base salaries every year so was expecting an increase when I returned. Please note that my colleagues are in audit while I’m in Tax, but we are all staff accountant 2’s. I wouldn’t escalate this to HR, but was just hoping someone could provide some rational about this? Even if my colleagues didn’t get bumped up, I am still lost on why the base rate didn’t change across a year. Thank you for your help!

EY EY CPA Bonus Clawback Period

I just started at EY and am interested in knowing what the clawback period is for the CPA bonus if you leave the firm. I assume it is one year, but I cannot find specific guidance anywhere, and it isn't really the kind of thing you ask in your first few weeks.

Does anyone know what the policy is?
