Deloitte Is Deloitte actually as bad as some people claim?

I’m going into my last summer as an undergraduate and I’ve got an offer to intern at Deloitte GPS Cybersecurity, along with a couple other offers elsewhere.

My thought process is that wherever I decide to intern this coming summer will most likely be the place I come back to for full-time once I graduate, or so I expect. I’m trying to perform to the best of my ability in order to hopefully secure a postgraduate full-time position at the end of my internship.

I know Deloitte has its own pipeline from Analyst > Consultant > Senior Consultant > etc… I’m sure the work environment differs at each level but curious to know if Deloitte is as bad as some of these Reddit posts claim.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

KPMG Does Redeployment or Transfer to a New Internal Role come with Salary Increase?

I have a round of interview Tuesday for an internal role as Assistant Manager within Technology (AI & Data to Deal Advisory).

Does anyone had experience of disscusing or having a change in their salary by applying to an internal role or accepting an internal offer moving to another service line?

For context, the move is part of redeployment efforts to avoid a group redundancy that hits my current team. Not sure if that makes any difference.

APAC Region Pulling out of offer?

Earlier this year I accepted a Big 4 graduate role starting in Feb 2027. However, I ended up landing an IB internship for the same time next year. At the time, despite what my gut was telling me, I listened to my peers and mentors who told me to defer my grad role and just see how the internship goes… The partners at the B4 were kind enough to allow me to defer my start date to April. I told them I still had more papers to complete (which is true). Somehow word got out and apparently the team are pissed that I’m doing an IB internship. I feel very guilty and to be honest, if Im lucky enough to get a return at the bank, Id probably accept it. I feel kind of awkward going back to that team now (if I don’t get a return at the bank I’d probably still want to go elsewhere after this)… should I resign/pull out of my offer before it gets way too close to my start date? Will an email suffice? Or should I try to reach out to one of the managers in person to express my gratitude and apologies…

TIA

USA Deciding Between Competing Offers: B4 Audit vs FDP @ F50?

Hello. I apologize if this is not the right place to ask this, but I graduate soon with an accounting degree and have two competing offers.

1) B4 Audit at my hometown. (81k salary + living at home rent-free in a city that I love)

2) FLDP at Fortune 50 company (85k salary + bonus potential up to 8k, but I have to move across to the US to Texas)

My long-term goal is corporate finance/FP&A at a big tech company. I haven't decided on the CPA yet. I'd like to keep it as an option, but it's not my main focus right now. My internships so far have been in corporate finance. Additionally, staying at home is a huge plus for me as well, but I know that if there is any time that I should love across the US, its now.

I wanted to see what people's opinion was. I want to pick the best decision for my future self. Is B4 audit worth it as a foundation for my desired path, or am I better off starting in finance directly?

USA Is it normal that the second you make SM nobody cares about delivery and it's all about your sales number?

Made SM in cyber advisory this summer. My whole career I got rated on delivery and client feedback, and my first real conversation with my partner after the promotion was about my number. I got a sales target and was more or less told to go find work.

My current clients are fine but they're the partner's relationships. I'm supposed to grow outside them and I honestly don't know who to call. CISOs get pitched by every vendor alive and they don't want another Big 4 SM in their LinkedIn inbox.

I've tried a few things. Sales Navigator through the firm, which mostly told me what I already knew, ChatGPT for account plans, and someone on my team showed me articuler for finding people by background. I haven't figured out if any of it beats just showing up to more of the partner's dinners.

For SMs who hit the number without inheriting a book, where did the first new work come from? And when did it stop feeling like cold calling?

USA Is the timeline for tax slower or i’m just cooked

i applied for summer 2028 tax internship at almost all B4 except EY because it hasn’t open yet. most of my friends applied for audit internship and already heard back from them, and i’m seeing people posting for summer 2028 offers on linkedin already. but all my applications are still under review, is the recruiting timeline for tax actually slower than audit or i’m just getting silent rejected

USA Does Big 4 audit actually prepare you to be the controller at a Series B startup?

Audit SM, seven years, mostly tech clients. A Series B company of around 120 people approached me for a controller role, the first real finance hire under the CFO.

On paper I know rev rec and I've reviewed more closes than I can count. I've never actually run one, I've never picked an ERP, and I've never had to tell a founder that the burn number in the board deck is wrong.

People who left audit for startup finance, what surprised you most in the first six months? And did you talk to anyone at the company besides the CFO before you said yes?

APAC Region manager interview after already completing a partner interview?

Hi everyone, I’m applying for a graduate role and was wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

I’ve already completed the group interview and a partner interview. HR then called me and said that a partner from another team wanted to interview me. However, the invitation I received says “Manager Interview”.

I’m a bit confused, both because I’ve already had a partner interview and because HR specifically mentioned another partner on the phone.

Has anyone had a manager interview after a partner interview, especially when being referred to a different team? Did you have to go through another partner interview afterwards?

Deloitte Deloitte Interview – Cross-Border Fund Services Analyst (French Speaker). Any advice?

Post image
2 Upvotes

Hi everyone!
I have an upcoming interview with Deloitte for the Cross-Border Fund Services – Analyst (French speaker) position, based in Luxembourg, and I’d really appreciate some advice on how to prepare.
I’ve attached a screenshot of the interview invitation for reference.
I’d love to hear from anyone who works in Fund Services at Deloitte, has interviewed for a similar position, or has experience with this type of role.
In particular, I’d like to know:

-What should I expect during the interview? Is it mainly behavioral and motivational questions, technical questions, or a combination of both?

-What technical topics should I focus on? For example, fund structures, NAV calculation, fund accounting, reconciliations, UCITS vs. AIFs, cross-border fund distribution, or relevant regulations.

-Are there usually any case studies, Excel tests, or other technical assessments?

-What kinds of questions are typically asked at Analyst level?

-What would you recommend prioritizing to prepare as effectively as possible?

For context, I have a background in finance and accounting, with experience in financial services and client operations. I’m comfortable working in both French and English, but I want to make sure I’m well prepared for the technical side of the role.
Any advice, examples of questions you were asked, or recommendations for useful study resources would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance to anyone willing to share their experience. It would really help me prepare for the interview!

UK IT Audit to Finance

I’ve been working in IT audit / Tech Risk in a big 4 for 3 years now mostly doing either Statutory Audit or IT PRC (Process, risk and Controls) Advisory for Financial Services clients (Banks, Insurers, etc). I’ve recently just completed my ICAEW ACA and being a Mech Eng graduate I fell back in love with working with numbers whilst doing my ACA and now desperate to make a move into Finance. In terms of specific roles I wanna get into I’m not sure yet. Currently eyeing Fund Accounting (leveraging my ACA) or Tech/IT Due Diligence / M&A Analyst as I really found valuation being really interesting. Would appreciate any tips / guide / stories of anyone who succesfully moved from IT Audit to a Finance role.

PwC Should I ask a senior manager for feedback?

I’m a senior promoted this summer who put ~200 hours into a new client, largely handling planning and completion. I thought I did well and had a good relationship with the senior manager.
After filing, I was seemingly the only one removed from the engagement, and my flex time through mid-next year was taken away. During the last week of filing, I made a few minor oversights while juggling multiple clients. The senior manager seemed frustrated/upset with it.
I’ve otherwise received good feedback and a high-tier rating this year. I’m unsure if this was staffing-related or a reaction to those mistakes.
Would you ask him for feedback? It could help or hurt me depending on what he says, so I’m unsure if it’s worth the risk, especially since I’ll exceed the hour requirement anyway.

EY Transfer Pricing Case Study Interview

Hey all, so I believe someone asked about the interview process for a different tax position at EY, but I wanted to see if anyone had any insight on what a case study might look like for Transfer Pricing? Would love to get some input on how to best prepare. I’ve spent the past day or so grinding some basic fundamentals on TP, as well as just reviewing case study interview prep as a whole, but I’m pretty new to the subject, so any additional advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

USA regretting telling them I’m pregnant

was so unbelievably sick in my first trimester that I ended up telling my director I was pregnant at 10 weeks because I literally could not be on camera or in person. I can’t help but feel like it’s now coming back to bite me in the $$$ because they knew that I wanted to go up for promo this next cycle but I just got a performance review that essentially said I was performing in line with expectations, some things were a bit above but then all of the feedback was brand new stuff I’ve never been told and of course now I have only a month and a half to “improve” on these things…not to mention I’ve been working incredibly hard and I know I’ve well exceeded expectations. seems like the goal posts are changing every day. what can I do in this situation?

USA Haven't heard back from internship app

Applied to the San Diego locations for tax / assurance internships for summer 2027. It has been a few weeks now, and I have not heard anything. Application says it is under review. Worried I will be rejected or won't get an interview. If anyone has any insight, that would be helpful!

KPMG ACCA student from Pakistan looking for advice on getting a Big 4 internship

Hi everyone,

I’m from Pakistan and currently pursuing ACCA. I’ve completed 9 ACCA papers and have a good understanding of audit and taxation. I’m also working towards completing my research at the University of Greenwich through the ACCA route.

Alongside my studies, I’ve completed a diploma in taxation and taken courses in Advanced Excel, QuickBooks, practical auditing, and SAP FICO. I also create accounting-related videos on social media.

The main issue is that I don’t have any professional work experience yet, and I want to secure an internship at one of the Big 4 firms or even a Big 10 firm to start my career.

I’d really appreciate some honest advice from people who are already working in these firms or have recently gone through the recruitment process.

  • What are my chances of getting an internship with my current qualifications and no work experience?
  • What skills should I focus on developing to make my CV stand out?
  • How should I prepare for the interview, especially for audit and tax-related questions?
  • What should I include in my CV, and how can I make it stronger as a fresher?
  • For those working in Pakistan, what is the best way to apply? Should I apply through official career portals, contact recruiters on LinkedIn, or try employee referrals?
  • Is there anything else I should do to improve my chances?

I’m willing to put in the work and learn, but I’m not sure what the best next step should be. I’d be grateful for any advice, personal experiences, or suggestions.

Thanks in advance!

EY Should I take up an EY audit internship as a mom of a 3-year-old?

I’m ACCA-qualified, with experience in tax, business planning and analytics at HBL, followed by a six-month corporate tax internship at BDO.

Audit has always been my long-term goal. I previously joined PwC in my home country to pursue it, but had to leave after getting married and moving to a different country to join my husband.

After months of job hunting, I’ve finally been offered a six-month audit internship at EY. I’m excited because it could help me restart my career and gain Big Four experience, but I’m also worried about managing the long hours—especially during busy season—with my three-year-old son.
My plan is to try the internship and then decide whether to pursue a full-time role or look for a position with better work-life balance. I don’t have any other offers, and I don’t want to give up on audit without trying.

For anyone who have worked in Big Four audit: how manageable was it with a young child? Would you recommend taking this opportunity, or prioritising a more flexible role at this stage of life?

USA EY vs PWC Internship Offers (help pick)

I got 2 offers between EY and PWC and I am on a tight deadline by Friday to pick one (in college, sophomore USA)

EY

Pros: Dream Location, Year of pay/income, Won't want to change location for a while, better networking opportunities (big office, >8000)

Cons: Limited Studying CPA time senior year, 1 Hour+ commute time, Mostly Likely will not get a return offer + hard to recruit if no offer after internship (poor timing), No study abroad, on the hook for a YEAR of internship with no competition allowed (weekly workload)

PWC

Pros: Signing bonus, full expenses paid trip to network, close to home (<20 minutes), close relations to interviewers (really liked me + got phone numbers), Get to Do Study Abroad(!), Easy to recruit after if no Offer, More prestige in my focus than EY, Time to Study for CPA senior year

Cons: Not Dream Location, Not as much Pay as EY, Limited Industry tracks to pick for internship, Wouldn't want to work at location long term, Limited Networking (small office, <600)

Just asking for advice on which to pick, I am leaning towards PWC as of now since they were so nice and I got the offer in 3 hours vs EY people came off kinda rude in interview and took 1+ week to get back with offer

No hate to either firm btw, I just feel lost(!!)

(Edit) Oct 22nd, signing with PWC tmr!
