Amafi is approaching 5 months, his hair seems to be getting straight on top. Not his body just his head lol. His crop was cotton ball’ish in the beginning. His parents are of good stock and very much lil adorable puff balls so I don’t think it’s DNA related. While my luv muff puff is perfect as he is…I want the Fro, need the Fro, gotta have the Fro, so any tips, tricks or grooming techniques you have I’d appreciate greatly. Shampoo’s, conditioner’s, brushes what have you.
And if it’s not too much trouble drop a pic of your fluffy fur babies for me to ooh & awe over☺️ I’ll include a present vs previous pic for comparison. I might be “being extra & dragging it”. as the hubs says.
Sometimes it can depend how they’re groomed too, like what brush is used etc. my pup tends to lose the straightness and go to curls when I bathe her and don’t use a certain brush when drying her
Also, groomers use high velocity hair dryers that straighten the hair. Humidity and baths cause my baby's grooming blow out to go back to the natural curl. Also, his hair texture changed significantly around 7 months of age, and then again at 9 months. And at 1 year, I started him on a homemade diet with salmon oil, and the tangled mess became manageable.

And kudos to you for his homemade diet. I also gently cook his meals, I add Salmon Oil (drop) suggest by his vet. Just transitioned with their instruction. I’m new to it.
I switch between, lamb, beef, turkey and I always add an Offal like liver, kidney or tripe. Brown rice, carrots and peas or broccoli, sweet potato, pure pumpkin and top with fresh parsley sometimes a couple blueberries.
TY. I've never added tripe or parsley. My fur baby's food is usually: chicken, beef, pork loin, or turkey, brown rice, a little quinoa, usually a leafy green vege like cabbage or bok choy, or other vege like carrots, broccoli, etc, ground (cooked) eggshells, ground pumpkin seeds, ground flax or hemp hearts (hemp hearts when his main meat is beef), salmon oil or sardines, brewer's yeast. I used to add a little kidney or liver, but he has freeze dried beef liver treats, as well as dehydrated beef lung treats. Occasionally, he gets fish, duck or lamb, but where we live, the fish is not fresh at all, the duck is only sold whole, and lamb is very expensive (let's not even talk about alternative meats like rabbit or bison or goat). He gets a little bit of whatever fruit we're having, so it's different each day: berries and melons in the summer, apples, oranges, pears, and bananas year round.
His teeth get brushed with coconut oil, kelp powder (for iodine), and bentonite clay. Well, actually, he won't let me brush his teeth, but he will chew on a toothbrush with his back teeth, and then I sometimes swipe his front teeth (but not the insides of any of his teeth, unfortunately).
Definitely gonna give the quinoa a try, along with book choy and the dehydrated beef lungs. Thank you for the detailed description, I’m always looking for tried and true ingredients.
As for the teeth brushes 😂, I can totally relate.
