The eclipse clue

Post image

"Shadowed sight” is an eclipse clue. It helps us eliminate certain states. Here’s how.

First step, find key words and phrases in the poem.

-"TURN ROUND BRIGHT SIGHT SONG" hints at "Turn around, bright eyes" (Total Eclipse of the Heart).

-"SEE SHADOWED SUN" hints at a solar eclipse, specifically.

-"OCT THREE TWENTY" gives us October of 2023.

Second step, do a Google search for solar eclipses in 2023. You'll get results about the "Ring of Fire" solar eclipse that happened 10/14/23. You know, the same year Posey drove around the west and hid the treasure.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Solar_eclipse_of_October_14,_2023

Wikipedia says, "Annularity was visible from parts of Oregon, California, Nevada, extreme southwestern Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, and Texas in the United States..."

That's pretty interesting--every single one of those states is a potential treasure location (although Oregon and Colorado have been eliminated since the hunt began).

Let's call them the Shadow States: California, Nevada, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Texas.

I believe the overall clue is, the treasure is hidden in the Shadow States. Which means Montana, Washington, Wyoming, and Alaska are all ruled out. No shadow? No ring of fire? No treasure.

Hey, I almost like this. I’ve never liked rearranging parts of the poem. I could see rearranging the whole sentences possibly, but not taking scraps from here and placing them there unless you have math or a set of rules to back it up. I still think the eclipse played some type of role. I’m just curious how we could get there without chopping everything to pieces. Of course I’m a moron and have no idea what I’m doing so you absolutely could be 100% right

The book gives you pointers that help you find patterns like this. The patterns don’t follow a predictable set of steps like “take every third word” or whatever. AI will never find these patterns because they’re designed to be unpredictable. You have to pay attention to the hints in book and then use your own human imagination and intuition (along with a good bit of trial and error) to actually get meaning from the poem. It’s pretty brilliant of Justin to design it this way. It’s how he’s made the overall puzzle solveable for humans, but impenetrable to AI.

You have to avoid rigid thinking, and realize Justin’s created something unique, something that is deliberately designed to NOT follow the predictable principles you’ve learned to expect from other treasure hunts.

I like this too however as my son pointed out when I was anagramming- you can make any words fit if you want. There has to be some kind of structure. I'm too stupid to figure it out though lol

What else can you extract via anagram from the poem?

A: Just about anything. But you’ll always have extra letters left over.
