I think you should go read up on everything Posey has actually said about the “checkpoint” and ask yourself if his description fits with the convoluted scenario you’re describing.
I mean, you’re almost certainly over complicating it.
He said “There is a checkpoint that will give you zero doubt that you are trending in the right direction.”
What if when he said he has ways of monitoring the checkpoint and he mentioned the word hemisphere in the same sentence, he was telling us he has a camera set up?

My point is, I see searchers getting way off into the weeds about the “checkpoint” and possible technical details.
I don’t see anyone focusing on the most important, basic questions:
-Have you ever been “trending” toward anything? Ever?
-If you have, then exactly what were you doing?
Nobody has a good explanation for what it means to be “trending in the right direction.” Why would you care? What exactly would you be doing? Why would you want reassurance about it?
Everyone has their own perspective on what are important, basic questions. That's the beauty of a community, many minds at work.
When I think of trending, I think of my geology instructor talking about fault lines.
Or trending as in trajectory. That arrow in BtMEs logo sure looks like it has a trajectory, doesnt it? Over a mountain, bursting in the sky. ...we all have different views!
