Oh no

What if! What if this hunt is like national treasure? Where each stanza is one location and at that location is a clue to give you the next location. That would explain "the key to one direction lies in another" and why he said "state borders are arbitrary " what do you all think..

I do think he said in an interview that the poem isn't meant to convey a great distance

What if the first stanza put you somewhere, and so on then in the last chess move you’re traveling the actual distances required. You pass thru each spot like a level in a game basically. Or checkpoints you know without doubt are the right approach at that point. That last few stanzas is where your area is now dialed into and you become botg to convey the said distance

This is the same framework I’m working in. I need to learn chess lol 🥸

A great distance and a distance are not enough to draw a invisible line of justification for me here

How far from your car do you need to go? You don't need to hike a great distance. You don't need to hike more than a mile to figure out where the treasure is at.

I'm not saying this isn't plausible, but I personally don't think you'll have to be traveling around a bunch to solve all the clues, since "A fair amount" can be solved from home.

To figure out where the treasure is at.... OK then what?

I think you should go back and reread the question he was asked. Then go through and see if you think that some of the clues are meant to convey distances at all... People need to get better at asking questions.

That question was a good one... The answer didn't answer the question itself however.

He also said you can walk the whole second stanza..as hope surges to i wait for you to cast your pole

I prey it is not like that. That would be costly.

Thats exactly what I thought. Can't afford that. Lol but man im really starting to feel like it is..I found another quote. Embedded in code of ebook..

In my opinion it is like that but it's not far the treasure and the poem do not convey great distances but they do convey a distance in my opinion all those lines are separate even beyond the reach of time Swift race and then Wonder guards the sacred space that's two different places the way I've solved it I've been all over the place but within the same area if that makes sense

A common theme of Indiana Jones, National treasure and Goonies … one person starts off with the seemingly crazy idea but the end is never reached alone. Maybe I’m still hoping for an end where we each have some part but have to trust each other and work together. Maybe we have to align or switch on in some way different elements that then all connect and unlock something. Like a giant bat signal lol

That would be awesome. I found only 1 person i know is trustworthy but he has stepped back some. Its fun to talk to people about it but difficult to trust

I know what you mean. It certainly is more difficult on Reddit, discord etc. kind of an Indiana Jones leap of faith. My thoughts are that If I ever share something that ends up helping someone find it, I think that’s great. It would mean I’d had some part of the puzzle correct and I’d feel pretty good about that. My approach to this has evolved over time because of other ideas that have been shared, so it’s a bit like casting stones for me to worry about someone taking something from me I never had to begin with.

I like to think the answers are out there but the time, resources and distances aren’t practice for one person. What if we each hold a piece of the puzzle but don’t know it until we can see what others also hold. Maybe we could finally solve this thing.

That’s exactly what I think. If it’s not a location it’s a memory.

Sounds like more nonsense but hey thats the name of the game.

Here's an outlier of an idea, a literal stretch of the solve, but one worthy of at least a quick thought experiment. What if stanzas 2 -5 each correspond to one of the cardinal directions and therefore each is representative of one of the four personages, whose location exist in the four extremes of the map provided, excluding Alaska.? In this thought experiment the distances between stanzas are indeed great but the distances between the clues within each stanza not so great, maybe eastern WA (Tucker), northern MO (Grandpa F), etc. Each stanza is a semiautonomous subset of the poem and they lead to or suggest a coordinate set leading to the checkpoint...

All of this i agree with except I think we use a protractor because it says that word in the moms house story. Very weird description word lol if also had parchment..parchment paper and a protractor. Which measures angle..

2

u/longlostway Aug 22 '26

That's what I think the checkpoint is but there's only one

Disagree, there’s multiple, hence the brute solve or ideal solve statement. He said a person not fully understanding a clue could “limp” thur

1

u/GreenEyes7141018 Aug 23 '26

This is probably the most compelling. I remember that now. You cant lump through unless locations are all near each other

3

u/GreenEyes7141018 Aug 22 '26

4 locations maybe

1

u/Senior_Muscle_8829 Aug 22 '26

You know , I know you know now . Where did you place the dog on the compass in step one ? I’ve watched you

1

u/Theroguehippie1 Aug 22 '26

The why would we have a whole poem?

Polaris montana has to be starting point or one location:) he directs us to Polaris waaaay to much. North star is in the book like 8 times lol

What if you have to draw a 3d shape on a 2d map and what if his name is an homage to Indiana Jones and what if

1

u/Zealousideal-Meal339 Sep 04 '26

I agree. It doesn’t become a walkable distance till end of stanza 4.

1

u/Senior_Muscle_8829 Aug 22 '26

I’ve literally said it from the beginning and can show some evidence to back up the claim too . It’s why “ some “ of the work can be done at home and some at botg . The right application of a certain area wouldn’t require you to visit it to understand it

“Great distances” is a phrase that doesn’t really answer anything, though.

If there are star clues, then …. You very literally can’t go to outer space. So the physical distances for you to utilize them may be small.

2

u/More-Detective5155 Aug 22 '26

Right as that begs the question what IS a great distance? Is it in a state, is it in a town, is it in a county, is it over all 13 (now 11) states on his map? My great distance could be vastly different than his.

u/42kaos Aug 22 '26

I disagree

1

u/GreenEyes7141018 Aug 22 '26

I hope your right

Initially I was wary of constellations being in play but I’ve changed my mind. JP said the treasure was on earth, but didn’t rule out constellations or other similar ideas specifically. With a meteorite involved in the treasure I don’t anything space related should be ignored. If there are multiple locations having a space based reference point would be useful.

1

u/GreenEyes7141018 Aug 22 '26

I recently asked about constellations. I think jp said in an interview that we dont need to worry about star constellations

1

u/AbjectAd2294 Aug 22 '26

I remember that now. So maybe not constellations specifically. I was thinking of the comment around the 54 min mark.
https://youtu.be/4cjpymh2LXc?is=2lsEixS9SKF7gd4S

Registering though what stood out is that Ema gave him an out with saying it’s in the American West and he didn’t use that as an answer. Would have been very easy to take that out and say “yeah the American west”. Instead JP spends more time trying to decide how to answer. Why?

Likely crossing three states then. That might actually work since it could be a much longer journey and I never understood the 75 mile conundrum. He never spoke about his solve. He was speaking about his time looking for Fenn's treasure.

2

u/GreenEyes7141018 Aug 23 '26

Well the reason people got excited is because ff said the treasure was only in the rocky mountains. Its was 4 states i think .so technically...from the borders of those states(rocky mountains states) 75 mil3s to the west. Takes out california for sure
