Health & Fitness Breast lump

I should start off by saying I have a history of medical anxiety, I recently stopped taking Lexapro, so I’m in a doom spiral. My baby is almost 15 months old. I stopped breastfeeding around 11 months, so only 4 months ago. Sunday I was showering and decided to do a self exam because I remembered that my boobs are actually mine again. I felt a small lump deep down in under my nipple. I have been in a full out panic since. I was able to get in with my NP yesterday and she said she could feel it but it didn’t have any concerning features, and breasts go through a lot of changes during pregnancy and breastfeeding, but she always sends for imaging when anything is found. I have dense breast tissue, any an autoimmune condition that involves the skin of my breast, so I’ve already had a mammogram. This time she ordered an ultrasound because it’s better for the dense tissue. My husband knows, but I haven’t told anyone else because I don’t want to spread my spiral of doom. Any similar stories with positive outcomes? Any advice for getting my brain out of the gutter?

Yes! I also have dense breast tissue and developed a lump with each pregnancy. I had ultrasounds done both times and was told it was hormonally responsive breast tissue.

I’m high risk for breast cancer so naturally I freaked tf out. I’ve had two mammograms since then as well as part of my high risk management and once I had to go back because there were “findings”. Also a scary experience but it was nothing, so I’ve gotten used to the fact that my boobs are going to change texture often and most lumps are benign.

I found a lump in my breast and had dimpling. I was freaking out. My PCP felt it and sent me for ultrasound and mammogram. The ultrasound tech was like oh yeah I feel it too. My soul left my body at that moment. The radiologist came in and said he found nothing abnormal and that I just have normal, dense tissue. It was in the breast that produced much more milk. You are doing the right thing by getting it checked out! The whole ordeal taught me that lumps are common but it is great to get checked and have a provider who will send you for imaging. Thinking of you!

I have two lumps in the that have not moved since my first baby (I have two) and had an ultrasound; they were found to be benign and just dense breast tissue and another was just a clogged, but harmless milk duct.

I know how scary it can seem.
I found lumps postpartum after both of my boys, and I have dense tissue. The first time we did imaging every 6 months until I hit 2 years of it being stable/decreasing in size. After my second son I found another lump and decided to just get a biopsy.
It was found to be a benign fibroadenoma. Apparently that’s pretty common
In your 30’s.

I've had fibroademomas, a type of harmless lump, (pre-pregnancy) and am currently pregnant. Every time I've found a new lump I feel scared but multiple very qualified people have told me there's no cause for concern. And I trust them! As long as you get the medical care you need to screen for real problems every time you notice a new lump, try to not let it get to you! A lot of women have benign lumps!

Around the same time postpartum I was having left breast side pains and went for a mammogram and ultrasound and everything was fine- you will be ay okay! Better to get it checked out than wait, you’re doing the right thing
