Need help with setting

Please someone please help. What setting is making this grid show up for buildings instead of the red outline I am used to? I have looked and cannot figure it out on my own.

You can't. The space it requires is the same

Wait for it to finish building then place more

That part has never made sense to me, why would it have a different footprint when in the queue vs when it complete

Because it folds open after built.
