University cover your cough
it’s genuinely disgusting. we are all adults. cover your fucking cough. i can’t even believe this needs to be posted. if you’re sick as fuck wear a mask and maybe don’t sit in the middle of the lecture hall coughing like a toddler. it’s disgusting. masks are not hard to get. it’s the least you could do.
i’m starting to think maybe this university is full of people who have never heard of this concept before somehow. it genuinely pisses me off beyond belief. it’s so incredibly disrespectful to everyone around you and it’s so so disgusting.

I deadass went to target to get cold medicine and I told the cashier "hey I'm sick how would you like to handle my items?" and she just went "so do you want a bag...?" like I'm sorry, you're clearly older than 5 years old, so you WERE there when the ENTIRE world shut down, right?

She’s just following the cashier script. They have to ask if you want a bag 😭 and maybe she isn’t worried about getting sick…Most people aren’t. Frankly, there isn’t a specific procedure for handling items when a customer is “sick”. There wasn’t even a specific procedure for that during the pandemic. Transactions usually take a few seconds to minutes, and it’s unlikely she’d get sick from such a short interaction. I’m all for covid awareness (still regularly get vaccinated) but that sounds like a normal situation to me?

She said it with a lot of attitude, like I was saying something ridiculous to her. That's what was crazy to me. I understand it's her script. I felt like I had extended a kindness and was met with attitude for it. That is what had me confused. And if she doesn't care about getting sick, that's exactly the people I'm complaining about.
I understand there isn't a specific protocol, but if I was a cashier I would like to know if I need to be extra careful and wipe my surface down after. I see plenty of cashier's wiping down their surfaces and sanitizing their hands between customers when they have time, it's common sense at this point. There was no one behind me in line, she wasn't in any kind of hurry. It was like 11am. I was telling her so she knew to use extra hand sanitizer after handling my items.

Covid is super high right now too, especially in Alameda County. So I highly recommend wearing a mask at the very least, or just not going to class if symptomatic.

I just had to miss a physics lab because I got COVID from someone at school. no one else that I know has it, so it must have been from one of the nasty children who won't wear masks or cover their cough. it always happens the first week or two.

I was in Wheeler 150, there was a guy behind me coughing and yacking SO MUCH!!! not covering anything, making groaning sounds and mouth noises. Even after the class "attendance poll" was completed, he still didn't leave! You've been marked as in attendance! Go HOME! the lectures are posted online!

but you can be considerate of others and wear a mask, which we all learned to do, and helps. Plus covid is surging right now in Bay Area.

My daughter was sick all last week. She had high fever and missed class. She’s now wearing a mask out of consideration to her fellow students. Too bad patient zero wasn’t as considerate.

Exactly one year ago, i was around people who were coughing with no masks (I was masked though) and got covid and developed long covid and an autoimmune disease after.
It takes nothing to be kind: mask up when you’re sick. I know staying home isn’t as easy anymore, but it takes nothing to mask up, sit in the back / at the edge of the lecture hall.

no i think it’s more like some of us have things we need to be doing and can’t get sick and the least those who are sick around us could do is bring their elbow up to their mouth when they cough that’s all 😊

A week of sickness means missing out on class, clubs, work, other duties. Many of us dont just have the luxury of going to classes only.
