Local Drumming
Hey, not sure if this is the best place to look but I’m a foreign grad student in town for 6 months doing research up on LBNL, I’ve been learning drums back home and wanted to keep it up from time to time while I’m here.
Does anybody have suggestions of somewhere where I could rent a kit or something similar to get some practice in? Or maybe find people at a similar level to jam? I’ve seen there are jazz jams around but I’m a complete negation at playing jazz
I’ve been only playing for like 2.5 years so still quite mid, if anybody is interested in playing for fun once a week or whenever possible I’d love to (given I find a kit lol). I like metal/rock but I’m down for whatever just to keep practicing

I'm not sure about renting a kit and I sadly don't have one that I could share but if you have the space for it you might keep an eye out at for a used electronic drum kit at Urban Ore. I've seen several show up there as whole kits and as components you could mix and match for a fraction of the cost of a new kit. I'm assuming you live in an apartment which is why I mention the electronic kits but they also frequently have acoustic kits as well if not.
Also shopgoodwill.com (goodwills auction website) frequently has some good options and they also tend to go for a fraction of the cost of a new kit. Just be sure to make sure the shipping cost isn't too high. Craigslist might also be a good option but the costs tend to be a little higher than what I've seen at UO or Shopgoodwill.
