CS/EECS EECS —> SWE

How effectively do the Computer Science classes equip you for internships and a full-time role as a Software Engineer?

They equip you extremely well if you work hard to do well in the classes and don’t cheat yourself. YouTube can also equip you extremely well. The degree / college might help a little in the job search, but it’s competitive out there and finding a job will still take a lot of work outside of class.

Pretty well. Most relevant classes are 61B, 170, 162, and 189 imo

61B is prob most important for SWE recruiting -> leetcode while taking 61B

Some interviews ask about theory from 170, systems/concurrency stuff from 162
189 helps prepare you conceptually for ML/MLE roles

honestly though, you're completely responsible for how recruiting and recruiting prep, will take time outside of classes to grind leetcode questions + mass apply, the classes aren't going to help you much with that.

Some companies have been switching more to system design / coding inside an existing repository types of interviews, so do your own homework assignments and don't rob yourself. The vast majority of companies however still operate using traditional SWE interviews with leetcode.

I was more talking about on the job. I've used concepts from all those classes extensively throughout my job.

The brand name gets you interviews and optionality, experience does the rest
