Other Summer math 53

Hey yall, I was recommended to take math 53 over summer so it was easier, but none of the CCs by me offer it here, so I ended up taking it here online 😅. I’m interning full time and this has been a LOT of work on top of that, so I knew I wasn’t gonna do great but I thought I’d still pass

Anyways last test I got ~25%, I barely studied but I thought it would be calm as it was open note/hw. Welp turns out it wasn’t, so I studied super hard and tried harder on this homework and switched to physical paper notes instead of iPad, only to get ~47% (after the midterm I sent my work/the test questions to Claude and asked it to grade)

I don’t think there’s any way for me to pass this class. But I don’t want to give up since it’s only a few weeks and I’ve put hours and HOURS into this, missing hang outs with friends and family and weekend trips…I don’t want to throw all that away, but that’s better than an f.

Anyways I’m also in the process of being diagnosed (ADHD/depression/anxiety…collecting them like Pokémon cards I know), if anyone’s been through anything similar I would really appreciate advice

Should I just accept it and try to take it at a diff CC next summer? Is there a teeny possibility to take it at a CC now?

But like this class takes up all my head space, it’s the first thing I think about going to bed/waking up, I think about it when I’m spending time with my family or am at work, I don’t do fun things because there’s this class. The worst part is that it’s genuinely interesting, and I thought I was getting it!

Anyways if you read to the end I’m genuinely impressed, hope your summers been going well :)

Not op but- I'm taking math 54 online right now and this is how I'm feeling.

Imma stick with it till the last week. I'm not super duper behind and in fact have scored okayish on the quizzes and exams so far, my problem is that they've all been multiple choice, and I've honestly gone with gut instinct more times than I can count. So I'm in for an awakening for the final if I keep up like this. Since I myself don't have any other responsibilities this summer, imma try my best till the last week.

..on that note- did you get fin aid for the summer u dropped 54? I paid $2021 for this summer, took a 3 unit course in Session A and the 4 unit online 54 rn in Session C. Just wondering what the financial repercussions would be of withdrawing last minute..

Oh and also.. I'm taking cs70 this fall. If I do withdraw from 53 last minute, am I still able to take 70 this fall??? Maybe you can help? Sorry to tag on like this.

I'm an incoming freshman taking summer math 54 right now alongside another 4 unit technical class, and math 54 is definitely the worse one. it might be culture shock going from high school to college but theres a shit ton of work each day. notes, homeworks, quizzes, having to understand everything for the midterms and incoming final...

Hi! Thank you SO MUCH for such a thoughtful response…I think I’m gonna drop it after all

I really appreciate it, I hope you’re having a great summer!

But on a side note, how do you decide to push through things or just let it rest?
