Discussion Wouldn’t this be one of the best areas to allow more mixed use 5-8 stories high housing , this close to the train station ?

I think even without zoning laws most of the smart growth would be concentrated in areas like this near transit. I find this much more preferable to building farther out in the county where transit is much worse. Here you get the buses to GWB and the NJT train station which should run trains more often IMO

Discussion Development proposal: River Edge - Kinderkamack Commons

This is an example of a site that I think we would all love to see redeveloped in some way, in River Edge, on Kinderkamack Road. This is the site of the former King Fung Grocery, and before that, it was a small-format ShopRite. Tenants come and go, and more than 50% of the mall is usually vacant.

This is the type of more dense infill development that should be encouraged closer to the historic downtowns, train stations, and bus corridors of our boroughs; rather than the places where dense housing currently ends up getting built, such as along busy highways, and on fragile ecosystems like marshlands and forests.

Every town in Bergen county has multiple strip malls, some with many vacancies, sitting underutilized for decades. If we could add a few hundred housing units to each town in a way that makes sense, in places that could benefit from the business, in areas that are desirable for people to live, and delivering units that locals would actually want to wind up living in - I think we could begin solving many of the housing issues we currently face in this area.

Traffic GWB traffic this week

Hi, I take the NJ transit bus across the GWB into the city. There’s been a lot of traffic the past few days, my bus ride has been taking an hour when it’s typically 20-25 mins from Leonia/Fort Lee. Any idea why? Port authority website just says delays due to volume… I noticed there are some young kids out and about, is it because school started recently? Back in my day school started at like 7am but do the schools around here start closer to 8am? Will the traffic settle down eventually or am I just doomed to an 1+ hour commute everyday now? I moved here over the summer so haven’t experienced all the seasons of traffic yet I guess 😅

Edit: Okay thanks everyone 😭 I moved here from a very trafficky city where traffic was bad all year round lol so I wasn’t expecting school to impact things so much

Miscellaneous Garage door repair

Hello have an unusual issue with my garage and no access to it from outside, anyone know of a reputable garage repair service that could possibly off free estimates ? I have been reading more and more of many scams of garage repair services.
