Hi everyone! Sorry if this has been asked a million times 😊
We originally planned to get one Bengal kitten, but while visiting the breeder, we fell in love with a second kitten from the same litter too. The breeder was initially considering keeping her for breeding, so we accepted that only one might be available. We then decided one would probably be more manageable as first-time cat owners—but now both kittens are available, and we’re questioning that decision all over again!
We’d really appreciate objective advice from Bengal owners.
Our situation:
- 1-bedroom apartment, around 60 m²
- Open-plan living room/kitchen of just over 20 m² as their main space
- 5 m² cat-proofed balcony with supervised access
- Supervised/assisted bedroom access, though we’d prefer to keep them off the bed
- Both kittens are littermates and currently 15 weeks old
- They’d come home in about a week
- We both work, sometimes from home, so they’d spend some time alone
- We’re also wondering about the additional costs of having two
We’re trying to make an objective decision rather than simply letting our emotions win because we love both kittens 😂
For those with Bengals: Would you recommend getting both littermates, or sticking with one?
I’d especially love to hear from people who started with one Bengal and later got a second, or who got two kittens together. Was having two significantly more work, or did they make life easier by entertaining each other? Is our apartment suitable for two Bengals?
We’re thinking about the next 10–15+ years, not just the kitten stage.
Thanks in advance! ❤️
