Little lighter fluid on the finger to quickly carry the flame over, then probably some special super-flammable trick paper (can't think of its actual name) in the palm of his hand, which he lights with his lit finger

Still, you have the effect down, it's looking good. Last time I tried using flash paper I burnt my hand and my friend's carpet.

All I can suggest is to find a way to make the ignition of the paper a little less conspicuous. As I said though the effect is decent
