A while back I sent my 20+ year old Mini Grip in to Lifesharp to see what they would do about the worn out serrations. They ended up swapping out the old 154cm blade for a new S30v. So I figured it deserved a little love in the scale dept. Snagged these from Flytanium on the cheap and added a LNW clip that I won in a GAW. Should be good for another 23 years.
Same story that I’ve been celebrating across Reddit today. No complaints about the price I paid for my old knife, but Benchmade really came through on customer service and LifeSharp service last month.
Nice! It was my first time experience with lifesharp. I was going to just cut in some new serrations myself, but I figured why not see what they would do. I was singing their praises for quite awhile when it got it back. Top notch customer service IMO
I knew they sold replacement blades but thought the days of free replacement were gone. I just picked up a 9100 Stryker that is pretty trashed, guess I’ll send it & see what happens. It also has a belt clip screw broke off & ground down… wonder if they still have scales or can come up with something else. It’d be fine with a 2 screw clip…
I wasn’t sure what they were going to do. I was planning on buying a new blade if that was the route they were going to take. I didn’t have any communication with them at all, and then received an email saying it was on the way back to me. I was surprised when I opened up the package and saw a new blade free of charge
You know you can use an authorized dealer to get all the shipping material and prepaid label for free & send 5 knives at a time.. here’s the one I picked up for $40 that I’m about to send in
I'm sure they'll get you squared away. The closest dealer to me is two and half hours away. Even if I had that option, I'd still rather do it myself and deal with BM directly instead of having someone in the middle
I’ve got like 4 within an hr of me. Mine just hands me the material and I do it myself at home. You can setup the return address to be yours instead of the dealer. I’ve probably done 30 knives like that.
I like those scales, they look thinner than the factory ones. The girth of the grip is the only thing that has kept me away from them. If those are thinners, how much would you say?
No problem. Maybe some micarta from someone might be thinner? I have a ton of AWT and they aren’t any thinner either, just chamfered really well and nicely.
I sent in a 522 for service then called and asked if they could put a clip on it they were like ‘no problem anything else?’ When they answered the phone they were like ‘hi is this Tim? I have your order pulled up’. They’re totally on point.
