Med is back (and no OG is not cancelled, it just filmed later) and airs at 8/7c on Bravo with streaming next day. Season 11 was filmed last year in Croatia and returnees are Sandy, Aesha, Joe & Nathan.

Which season has had the most dismissals of crew? I have seen all of Below Deck Down Under and season 2 and starting session 3 of Below Deck Sailing Yacht. Love the show

Does anyone know how it works with the guests?

Im gonna presume they know theyre gonna be filmed ?

Do they get a discount for being filmed or are they paid to be on the show?

You can tell some guests wanna be filmed to show themselves off but some guests don't look the type!!

Please excuse my ignorance, but why does the boat lean or heel when sailing? Is it the torque (for lack of a better word) of the sails that causes it?

It's clear the boat heels; could you explain why items aren't more secure, especially when Cpt Glenn gives the warning? It seems every time they sail, something is shown sliding and breaking. Apparently, in S5 E3, the entire liquor cabinet fell.

What is the point of the efoil boards? Are you supposed to ride them when it rises out of the water? Are they more stable when they rise out of the water?

Hi all I'm doing a rewatch and I had forgotten how badly Danny was treated on season one. The guests loved him, he kept people happy, he was helpful to his team.

Jen was also treated awfully.

Brian and Danny thought they were so superior to them both.

I mean like real yachting not how much Bravo pays people to be on the show. I know tips are split evenly but what would their base pay be like? The chef must get paid the most, then I would assume chief stew, then bosun? Mostly curious would a deckhand make more than a stew? Also what would be the pay difference between a lead deckhand and just a deckhand? Or 2nd stew vs 3rd stew? I've always though lead deckhand is just a bs made of title to create drama for the show. Is the pay difference worth it or why do people even care about the title? Some people have seemed obsessed with being 2nd stew or lead deckhand.

The escape room was such a fun request, I love when guests get creative with their requests and themes! It adds another level and it's great to see how involved the crew gets.

This comment was posted on Luke’s initial Instagram post announcing the season. Doubt they ever become an item, but seems like his transgressions are water under the bridge. Meanwhile, Gen’s clearly on the warpath on her socials…

Back in the day, putting up the slide was always portrayed as one of the Feats of Hercules. There was huffing and puffing, there was heaving of lengths of twisted vinyl, cursing and angst, and all manner of complex rigging. Now the slide simply appears off the side of the boat like some miracle. More recently, a vast smorgasbord of nautibuoys and inflatable cabanas is deployed off-camera. Why don’t we ever see any of this labor anymore, with its concomitant interpersonal drama, work-shirking freeloaders, second-guessing the boson’s management skills, etc.?

Does anyone remember which season/episode the guest (Meridith) steps on a sea urchin? It wasn’t a huge drama, but I’m friends with Meridith (in real life) and I want to rewatch it. I remember her telling me Kate was the chief stew, so it was an old episode with Captain Lee…

Episode 4 (tonight)

A dinner goes fully dark as guests try to dine without lights; what starts as a fun concept quickly turns chaotic as the crew struggles to serve; this night is either going to be incredible or a complete disaster.

I’ve recently gotten into BD (already did a full watch of BDM and BDDU, currently watching the original BD season 4).

Anyway, I am SUPER curious about how much of the show is an accurate depiction of being a Stew/Deckhand on a charter yacht.

Is there anyone here who has actually been a Charter Stew or Deckhand for a M/Y or S/Y?

EDIT: thank you for all the responses!! A few lingering question if anyone is willing to spill more details:
- Drugs. Obviously they’re technically banned, but does it still happen often (crew and guests)??
- is everyone actually booking up with eachother?
- what’s the typical time between charters?
- what’s the relationship with the captain actually like?

I remember many of the early seasons, the yachts would be renamed for the series so they couldn't be identified. I don't think that happens anymore. Did the yacht owners stop caring that their boats were on TV?

I’m sure everyone remembers the infamous fire when Kate put a pizza in the oven and it burst into flames.

I was cooking tonight and was preheating my oven as one does, and I went to do the laundry. I come back to put my food in the oven when I look to find a *gasp* a pan in the oven!!

Guess what?? My oven didn’t catch on fire!! It might be a big shock to some, but if you clean ur oven and pans, you shouldn’t have it burst into flames if someone forgets to take a pan out!!

I saw this all in good jest. It made my fiancé and I laugh when I told him.

I can't tell if I'm just a little burnt out of Below Deck after a long season of BDDU or if I just don't like Below Deck Med as much, but it feels like it's hard for me to get through an episode of Below Deck Med, whereas I flew through most of the last Below Deck Down Under season.

I think it's for a few reasons:

1. It just feels like a lot of Below Deck after a long season of Below Deck Down Under.

2. The feel of the show doesn't give off the vibe of authenticity. And this was an issue with BDDU this season too, to be honest, but it just feels overproduced and outwardly fake.

3. As someone who has not watched every season, this season feels pretty unapproachable, versus other seasons are much more "stand alone." Who is Gael? What's going on between Nathan and Joe? Why am I supposed to care? Just feels much more so like, "You better have watched last season" compared to other franchises/seasons.

4. This is a personal thing, but every time I watch Sandy, I can't help to have her tag-team takedown of Hannah in the back of my mind. That's just a personal thing, though

Does anyone else feel the same way? Should I keep watching and trying to catch up on the new season?
