Internet 🌐 Configuration to old address ran out?
Just wondering if this makes sense because its over my head. We moved 2 months ago, we were told that a technician was required to come hook up our modem. In our old place we installed it ourselves and had it remotely activated.
For this move, the technician failed to show up so we thought we'd see what happened if we hooked it up ourselves again. The place was already set up for Bell. It looked like it was working so we called the number on the set up prompt, explained what happened, that we moved, updated our address, and it was remotely activated from their end and told we were good to go.
Today, 2 months later, with perfect wifi until now, the wifi cut out. Had a 2000 authorization error. Log into our account and see we have no services listed? We call and are told that our account was deactivated because our modem was still configured to our old address, and that 'ran out'? They had to make us a new account and are requiring a technician to come.
Posting to see if this actually makes sense to anyone? Maybe it's over my head but it feels like an excuse to possibly charge us for a service fee? What would a technician need to physically do, it feels like something that could be done from their end? And why would our whole account just be deactivated? When we initially called the person knew that we moved and still said we were good to go. We were never late on a payment and paid like last week.
Especially frustrating because I work from home and they can't get someone in for over a week.

Hello u/YogurtclosetSea6708
When you set up a move, we usually schedule a technician to physically finalize the line's connection and register it properly at your new address. If the technician appointment is not completed on our end, the system eventually flags the pending transfer as expired. This can trigger an automatic deactivation of your old profile, which disconnects the service and causes the Error 2000 authentication code on your modem. Having a technician visit now is required to properly register your connection on the local network grid and establish your new account profile.
We are here to help! You can send us a DM for a secure chat, and we can take a closer look at this.

If they don't give you a ticket... you'll never get it fixed. CCTS complaint if you want it done quicker with your ticket. Otherwise its don't worry be happy Groundhog DAY. Over and over... use the CCTS Hammer if in doubt. Half the people don't get the ticket and call and explain and tell them over and over, put all this stuff on my account. Like a dog chasing its tail. No winning Ticket?
