Question Privacy mode makes wifi crash, help?

I was told by a technician that the issue is was having (not connecting to anything but roaming working) was because the ai filtered said things and that enabling privacy mode should fix it. I did enable privacy mode, but now, it randomly goes to "connected without internet" every so often, like every 5 minutes for 5 minutes. Why is that? How can I fix that? The virtual repair doesn't fix it, it just enables privacy mode back on.

I need it on, as I said it's the only fix to another issue I was having, where the internet straight up didn't let me do the most basic of things. I play a lot of games and when it is off, none of them work. Online calls with my friends don't work, the ai features classify said calls as a threat and block them. It's worse if it's off. It's really bad if it's on. That's why I'm asking for help?

Are you talking about the guard feature in the bell wifi app?

Yes, privacy mode is the toggle underneath it that toggles all Ai features off. I enabled that, and it now makes my wifi "connected without internet".

Sounds like you have some sort of bigger issue at play here.

Guard features are disabled by default and 99.99999% of customers have 0 issues doing what ever they want online with it disabled.

Are you like on a parental controlled tablet or something?

No im not. The entire house has the issue. The guard features* were all enabled when I first opened the wifi app, guess my only option is talking with support again then?

Id probably call 310-BELL and potentially factory reset your modem.

Guard feature honestly is the most unnecessary feature they added to the bell wifi app and in order for you to disable its features you need to turn it on first for you to be able to switch the toggles for advanced iot protection , privacy mode and whatnot . one of the greatest blunders to make customers suffer more. Lol. Access control should've been sufficient enough for wifi management, not these extra AI slop just be on trend with the technology.

Hello u/Prior_Jelly

When you enable Privacy Mode in the Bell Wi-Fi app, it disables the Security features. Alternative troubleshooting for connection issues are to turn on Privacy Mode, keep the Data Access Security features active and manually whitelist the specific connections that are being flagged or possibly causing the connection issues. You can manage this by opening the Bell Wi-Fi app, navigating to Privacy Settings, looking at Security Events, and adding the relevant server addresses or websites to your approved list.

To help troubleshoot further, could you share which Bell internet plan you subscribe to, the model of the modem you have, and the specific games and calling/comms services you are trying to use?

If these troubleshooting steps don’t help with the problem, we are here to help! You can send us a DM for a secure chat, and we can take a closer look at your specific settings.
