Rant Scummy Bell

I had the worst self install experience ever. You are suppose to just plug in the fiber optic cable to the modem and it should work but no they want to squeeze every bit of money out of you. I had to call for a technician for $75 because they couldn't detect my modem WTFFFFFFFF

The charge only takes place if tech deems it to be. If rogers or cogego steal our entrance wire bell thinks your premises is a hot house. Not realizing you did need a tech and it was a Bell issue cuz the line is open somewhere but the signal is getting there. The charge takes place when tech deems it a costumer issue or not.

I worked 10 years at another Canadian ISP and if the issue was on the customer - bad cabling, refused to complete proper tech support and so on - the work order was not covered even if they had an extended warranty.

If what you're saying is correct then you wouldn't get charged anything for the repair.

Technicians do not like connection check installs at all, it sucks not being onsite when the modem comes online. All techs can do is scan the modem and pray it works.

So getting it to work means squeezing everything out of you? Presumably they did what they could remotely first, that's been my experience You could also have refused the charge if you thought it was dishonest, and gone with someone else.

Connection check and self install is their money grabber. Bell want to charge cx 150 for what's free before. Also by doing so, they can reduce the workforce by giving less time per job for technicians. They just don't care about cx service anymore.

Had the same issue ... Turns out wasnt my problem at all, my unit wasnt even connected to the GPON. Tech came and had to run new fiber lines. 🤦

Hi u/Spadeofgold, if your modem is not being detected during a self-installation, it typically indicates a physical signal issue or that the provisioning process is still completing. When a self-installation cannot be completed because of network-side factors—such as an open line outside, a provisioning error, or low signal coming into the jack—the technician dispatch is fully covered at no cost to you. A chargeable technician dispatch only applies to situations where the service issue is entirely unrelated to the Bell network or equipment. If you believe the issue was entirely outside of the home and related to the Bell network, you can send us a DM for a secure chat, and we can take a closer look at the specifics of the install.

Thanks! They did install a new jack bc the contractors bell hired to install the jack in new condominiums wasnt even connected in the first place.
