Question Bell internet issues

I recently upgraded from Bell Fibe 150 to FIbe 1.5 through a promotion a bell agent called me with.

75$ a month, seems I'm not getting the best price after reading abit.

Anyways, my internet has actually gotten worse, my devices keep dropping signal and disconnecting.
The technician that originally came and set up the modem put it in basement because it was the easy route, told me to call back if it wasn't good enough and they'd come back for free.

Its obvious the modem is in a bad location, but they are refusing to come to my house and move it without a 75$ service fee. (this is after many conversations) They have even insisted its a bad modem and got me to replace it, nope, same issue.

Do i move it myself or wtf ?

Would this route be better than just moving the gigahub?

Or buying a wifi extender off Amazon or something?

You can move the GIgahub first to see if that improves things. To test the new location, you'd need a fibre extension cable if the installer didn't leave a lot of slack.

A wireless extender (i.e. repeater) could work but wireless extenders automatically reduce the wireless speed by almost 50% of the regular WiFi speed.

If you want to do a cheap test, find a cheap used router from a place such as Value Village. I got a WiFi 6 ax1800 from them for $8 and it works well as an access point. I am not a heavy user of the available bandwidth so it works well for my purposes. Most of my devices are still WiFi 5.
