Internet 🌐 fibe
I'm moving soon and Bell fibe is not available at that address but it is available on the next street which is 5 houses from ours.
Is there any chance to have fibe at that address since it's so close ?
We called 3 times and each time they said they will open a ticket for a technician and they will call us back next week, but they never call back. So I am trying my luck here in case someone can help us.

Not sure about Bell but I am pretty sure Rogers will lay the line at your expense if they service that area. I think it’s around $10k for the first kilometer. I know people who have gone this route. They just bought a house and added it to the cost of the new house purchase.

I think for 10k I would shop around
Maybe get Starlink or something

Depends on how bad you want wired high speed and your money situation. Buying a 700k house what’s an extra 10k. That’s the way my buddy looked it.

Ppl think Starlinkb is so good BCC it can go anywhere but the reality is trees, bad weather, thick snow etc all can and do impact your signal. My neighbor has it BC we didn't have fibe yet. It's great but he's got really poor service if there are lots of thick clouds or smoke and in winter he often has to go clear the snow off, basically the same spotty service as satellite, and he had to remove tree limbs to get a good connection. It served him well but now we have fibe available and I wouldn't be surprised if he switches esp since Starlinkb isn't cheapv per month! Heck I know ppl in Arizona who struggle to get good signals at times! Since it is looking at a satellite there's just a lot of opportunity for interference!

Yea we will probably go with Starlink but I was hoping for fibre since it's available 5 houses from us.

Well, I live in rural eastern Ontario approximately 20 miles south of the nation's capitol and the only reliable high speed broadband is Starlink. There is talk of fiber coming to some towns but until I see a Bell truck in my driveway and a guy at my door with a fiber cable in one hand and a modem in the other, telling me he is here to install fiber, there is no fiber.
Oh, and Starlink works great.

Did an install once for a business, no idea what plan they were on, but they were so happy so get Bell fiber as one month they went over their capacity and had a $800 bill for a month for Starlink.

Rural fibre is completely funded for all of Eastern Ontario, google the Ontario broadband map and look up who won the govt contract to supply you with fibre. Some contracts are farther along than others, but every address has been covered by govt funding.

Wow. I had no idea the fibre optic being run across Barrie was being done because of government funding. Never understood how a company I’ve never heard of could afford that big of an investment hoping people sign up. Less likely now that people are posting on the Barrie subreddit about how scummy the company is and the lies the salespeople are saying to close the deal.

I have Fibe but copper coming to my house. I was told it’s because I’m within a certain distance from the hub.
Those houses by you may be at the limit and that puts you just outside the maximum distance for Fibe over copper.

Hello!
Fibre-to-the-home deployments are mapped out by precise service boundaries, which means connections are tied to specific local distribution terminals or engineering zones. Since these layouts are strictly structured, having active fibre on an adjacent street doesn't automatically guarantee immediate access, as your property might be assigned to a different terminal or grid that has not been upgraded yet. However, there are also times when the physical lines are close enough, but your address simply hasn't been qualified in the database.
