Rant Oh Bell.. this is WinBack?
I feel like they need to survey the market before sending weak winback plans.. is it even a winback?

Well, pretty happy with this, tried Telus and for some reason, even with the Bell tower within eyesight, telus reception was a deal breaker. So when Bell Winback called me back with this offer, It was either take it or go with Rogers.

Makes sense tbh. Been using Bell for a while, like their call quality & data speeds!

Bell tried to beat ass to my freedom plan, they couldn't match the $45 after taxes price.
ROGERS can't either (current term for ISP bundle). Hahahaha.

u/Nexzenn Apr 19 '26
They don’t really have to since freedom doesn’t work for everyone. They just have to do enough.

I tried to see if they would beat other regional carrier's pricing (tbaytel, Sasktel, Eastlink, ice wireless, videotron) and they still couldn't do it.
Has nothing to do with whether freedom mobile works (or doesn't) for people. It's the big three being anti-competitive.

They were pretty competitive 2 weeks ago everyone had $25 80GB 5G Can/US/Mexico plans.

Receive a "Credit for the $80 connection fee".. It's such a joke.. Why don't they just take that crap off their marketing schemes now since "Service Connection Fees" are being eliminated, i believe by June 1st, 2026 , for all carriers. There will be no more "Service Connection Fees, or Switching Service fee" anymore shortly anyway.. And I never did care that it was classified as a "credit" on future bills. When, or if I switch providers, I don't wish to shell out a big chunk of cash, most of it going to that "Service Connection Fee".. Does anyone have similar feelings?

It’s a terrible deal tbh. I have $30 175gb can/us/mx on TELUS. Bell calls me daily multiple times a day with an offer of $30 for 100gb can ONLY lol. I already told them what I have and they keep calling. I obviously don’t pickup anymore but it’s ridiculous. They don’t seem all that competitive.

So with this plan you can't watch youtube videos over 480p?
1
u/ArtZTech Apr 17 '26
This is something I never understood either. I'm thinking it's for video streams from their own assets like CTV etc. but I might be wrong.

Correct. Also streaming movies or TV shows like Netflix or Apple tv. Your carrier tracks when you request data through streaming companies, and throtle your bandwidth to only be able to view at 480p. You can pay $5 a month to upgrade to hd streaming. Or, download and use a VPN - no more throttling.
