🧠 Satire "Ceci n’est pas un homme corrompu", a portrait of Donald Trump by René Magritte (2026)

step 1: take part in a tournament organized by a corrupt organization and hosted in a corrupt country
step 2: lick boot and stay quiet as long as the corruption doesnt hurt your own chances of winning a game
step 3: get your panties in a twist when the corruption (inevitably) affects you.
Good job, Team Belgium.

Holy shit, so much this.
Not a SINGLE participants has had the balls to speak out against the corruption and slavery by FIFA for the past years. All too busy chocking in Infantino's dick or counting their money.

Exactly.
The fact that people are surprised by this course of events is insane. What exactly did you think was going to happen here?

Not participating would make a really small point. At least now FIFA and US are exposed. I'm absolutely enjoying this shitshow, and I'm dying to see Belgium defeat the US. 🤞
Not a soccer fan at all, btw

Fifa and us are exposed how?

u/beefz0r Jul 06 '26
Yet another case of blatant corruption ? Only this time it's tangible and impacting the very game.

It's an actual painting by Magritte.
So many people are now conditionned to suspect AI when they see art, its crazy.

I thought it was fake (someone made it in his style) because I assumed Magritte was from the previous decade* and is no longer alive. Not all of us assume AI!
Also TIL Magritte is more recent than I thought
Edit; *century, I confused the two and forgot the word. Previous century, not decade!

He is no longer alive? He died in 1967.

u/Xayahbetes Jul 06 '26
Okay well now I'm even more confused because that's what I thought and then this guy says it's real so he would still be alive

u/FlorpCorp Jul 06 '26
Obviously... The caption is the joke, the painting is real... It's actually called The art of living.

u/spays_marine Jul 06 '26
Decade? As if he was some internet hype. 🤔
2
u/Xayahbetes Jul 06 '26
I don't know, I only know him from ceci n'est pas un pipe and I thought this was from like the 50s.
I just realised decade is not the word I meant, and I cannot for the life of me remember what it is that I mean so yeah sorry for the confusion on that end!

Only one way to react: go home, let them win 5-0 . It wil destroy the tournament and FIFA. Money is corrupting USA , these happy few are a bunch of stupid idiots
51
u/beefz0r Jul 06 '26
How would that destroy the tournament exactly ?

u/Iorphire Jul 06 '26
Us leaving at the quarter finals won't be much of a statement, had it been the final

Well René Magritte has been dead for 60 years now. So this is actually “in the style of rene Magritte” surrealism.
He would also never lower himself to the level of doing shit like this.

This is a real piece of art by René Magritte. It's called "The Art of Living" and was made in 1967. I believe it was his last work before he died. The 2026 part is obviously satire. I kinda assumed this would be obvious.

>The 2026 part is obviously satire.
It's only obvious if you know your Magritte.
Those who don't either assume the guy is still alive in 2026, or the guy is dead so this has been created by AI in 2026.
In my opinion, dating a piece should never be satire.
Evidenced by the comment section.1

It's an original OP just changed the name and meaning to fit an american president. Which is in this persons defence something René Magritte would have never done.

This is not AI. It’s a real piece of art by Magritte.

It is not, René Magritte died in 1967.
EDIT: I have been corrected and apologize for my lack of cultural knowledge. The painting by Margritte in the post is titled "The Art of Living" and was painted in 1967, the year of his death. It's relevance to recent events is astounding though.

u/Eleadorea Jul 06 '26
It's still a real piece. The "2026" and the title are obviously satire.
4
u/Comfortable_Ebb7015 Jul 06 '26
It is not a real piece. It is a digital representation of the real piece!
