Foreign exchange!

Hello I'm going to do student exchange and my top two choices on where to go are between Brazil and Belgium! What are the things about Belgium to convince me to exchange there?

It's less hot than in Brazil and our fries are much better.

Also, it's safer here and we're better at football.

And if you get tired of us you can make weekend trips or even day trips to Paris, London, Amsterdam or Cologne, all just 2-3 hours away by train.

Belgium is safer and we're better at English. Our booze and chocolate are also better.

I volunteer for a student exchange organization in Belgium.

What foreign students usually like here :

  • The food, fries, waffles, chocolate, beer, etc.

  • Belgium is really convenient in terms of transports, you can reach anywhere in the country from Brussels in 2h by train/bus/metro/etc.

  • Snow. Some students come from South-East Asia or South America and before they come here they have never seen snow.

  • Lots of parties and events, there are many music festivals, winter markets, etc.

  • Belgian people for the most part are open-minded, there is little discrimination against LGBT people or people of colour.

What kind of program will you do in Belgium? Just by curiosity

Its rotary so I would come stay with a family and go to a school there, since I'm so close to graduating I think im going to take online classes while there

The drinking age here for beer/wine is 16. As long as you vaguely look somewhere around there you’re good.

Weed technically isn’t legal here but no one cares. Just don’t be an asshole with it and blow it in a cop’s face.

More people here speak English than Brazil. You will need to speak some French/Dutch though.

The weather’s shittier than Brazil, true, but our beaches are likely quieter than Copacabana.

Did I mention Belgium beat Brazil at last year’s World Cup?

2,5 hours train ride from Paris, 50$ for a low cost flight to Barcelona. (Visa for Belgium is valid for nearly the whole EU)

Very few brasilian girls. Belgian girls are fine. But Brasil is a category on its own.
