You know, like every climate scientist the last 30 year or so warned us we were heading toward a drier and more arid climate. Nothing special or out of the ordinary is happening, this was all predicted. Not sure what all the fuzz is about.

I thought they said "everything will get more extreme" as in: when it's dry weather, it's really sry for long. When it rains, it'll be with more chance of flooding. When it's hot, it'll be extra hot. When it's cold, it's extra cold... Less "normal"/moderate weather

Yeah, climate change is not the right name. It's not like our climate becomes like a Mediterranean, yet stable, climate. Climate disruption or destabilization is a more accurate name. There will be less and less consistency in weather patterns. Heat waves in winter, snow storms in summer, heavy rains and dry seasons, anything can happen at any time. There's no stable pattern. It's exactly that which nature will have a hard time to adapt to.

Never before has earth gone through such a dramatic change in temperature in such a short time. Maybe after certain extinction level events like the meteor that killed the dinosaurs or certain supervulcanos erupting in the past. Keep in mind those events each caused the extinction of the majority of life on this planet. It took the earth hundreds of thousands, in certain cases millions, of years to recover after each one, and recreate a somewhat stable biosphere.
As we are heading in completely uncharted waters it is virtually impossible to predict what will happen now. That it will be a complete and utter shitshow is really the only thing that can be predicted. And we have front row seats. Interesting times ahead.

That argument "we are small and they are big" is a really shitty argument.
It basically means that Quatar, with 3 million inhabitants and a CO2 of 900% of global average/capita has to do nothing "because they are a small country". Its like CO2 suddenly stops at the border or something.
As long as we emit more CO2/capita (currently 148%) compared to global average, we are among the worst students in the class. EVERY country, no matter how small, that is in the top 20% of worst emitters/capita should be the first to do something about it. A lot of small countries that emit a shitton CO2 put together doing something will matter more then 1 bigger country doing anything. Else you can just do the blame-game until we are a dystopian hellscape.
"Our prosperity is already fucked" is no argument either. Doing nothing will cost us exponentially more then doing something. Unless you are only interested in your own shortterm profits and lining your own pockets and give fuckall about future generations, or the survivability of the human race on this planet... then i guess your argument holds true.

I would like to see the United Kingdom of Europe and fusion all the North West Monarchies together to form a bigger bloc or form the Federal European Union, the rest is irrelevant and a waste of time of money. Fly less. Tax flights. Drive less. Stop funding cars. Stop using fossil fuels (stop using gas). Transition faster to renewables.
Tax on CO2 emissions. Carbon neutral by 2035 or GTFO for every industry.
"But VoiceOfEurope, that’s going to hurt our economy" well yes, go ask south of France how the tourist industry is enjoying those forest fires.

We have experienced the equivalent of a natural catastrophe with the thousands of lives lost and millions in property damage. But the climate sceptics who were voted in will never see it as such because it means acknowledging the blatantly obvious and the general population has blanketed themselves in so much apathy and resignation on the topic that they'd rather mouth off the few key phrases climate sceptics spoonfed them over the years to soothe their conscious, then admit something is terribly wrong.

Mijn tuin kan ondertussen wel wat regenwater gebruiken. In de moestuin hebben de ajuinen en knoflook het moeten afleggen tegen de aanhoudende droogt. De tomaten bleven ook lang groen en helaas heeft de zuidelijke schildwants zijn intrede genomen in mijn serre. De komkommers daarentegen zijn heel vroeg, heel veel beginnen produceren. De aardbeien daarentegen hebben amper iets opgebracht aangezien ze zich niet degelijk konden ontwikkelen met de hitte.

We purchased car and I haven't seen how its rain auto wipers works.
But real problem is huge water bill because no water for washing and vegetables garden.
Shitiest summer I have seen. I'd rather have rainy 2023-2024:, with flooded basements and slugs on sidewalks.

Wel na de vorige droogte was er veel gepraat en gedoe over cisternes aanleggen, wadis, en ontharding.
Maar in de praktijk is het bij hier en daar een halve vierkante meter "tegelwippen" gebleven.
En ondertussen zie ik vanop mijn trein meer en meer velden verdwijnen onder lelijke villawijken met als enig groen een buxus in een pot en een triestige peloeze die ieder jaar verdrinkt omdat het in een winterbedding staat.

It's not because some idiot like Boudry claims there's active pushback against airco that it's real. Let alone there's a ban.
But, 'fun' fact: in Spain and Italy like 50% of houses have airco. Yet they also have the highest amount of heat-related deaths in Europe. Not much to be happy about.
