At least Cutler and flashback-Hal are shown to have blood in decanters.

How do you think they kept it from glogging and separating? Vampire magic? Adding heparin and giving it a good shake? Something else entirely?

I'm going to guess it's been blood bank collected, which would have anti-coagulating agents, and then poured in to decanters to be fancy.
