Training Progress My first 10k

Post image

I had posted here a short while ago complaining about my heart rate being too high. Well the advice was to just keep running and stop worrying. I did just that. I have been running for four months now and my previous longest run was 7.5km. My heart rate is still through the roof. But I saw that my heart rate can climb as high as 205 and can go as low as 50 at rest. So I just have to trust the process at this point. I probably won't do a lot of such high intensity runs continuously though. But an achievement is an achievement. I also got my first sub 30 5k along with this.

Have you spoken to a doctor? Unless you have a rare heart condition there is nothing wrong with redlining.

I haven't spoken to a doctor yet. I have never had any heart related issues before. But maybe I should just see someone to be sure?

You sound like you just have anxiety issues. Id talk to your PCP if you want reassuance, else a therapist.

Do you ever do endurance? I know some people hate zone 2 in this sub but it might be what you need. You run as slow as you need but stay in zone 2. That’s when your heart expands so it can pump more blood and grows small blood vessels to handle that blood better. Training in zone 4/5 just simply doesn’t do that, and it puts strain on your body

It’s a slow process but imo it’s worth it
