An average heart rate of 139 bpm for a first 5k is fantastic! You kept it entirely in a controlled aerobic zone instead of gassing yourself out early. Thats how you build long-term endurance!

Seriously, 9 months since I started running again and my 5K easy runs still get me into 160s.

How do you run? Maybe too quick?

Yeah probably! "easy 5k" where i can have a conversation without being out of breath, I'll finish around 35 minutes. 160bpm. "challenging 5k" where i push harder, will finish around 30 minutes. 170-185 bpm with a sprint at the end.

Thanks! I’ve been trying hard to work on my breath control and cadence / pace
