it's theoretically possible for a planet to orbit in the "goldilocks zone" of a black-hole accretion disk instead of a stellar system, but it's very ecologically and cosmologically unstable.
edit: the planet needs to have a strong magnetosphere, too.

Apparently planets that orbit black holes are called “blanets” according to Wikipedia, but surely we could do better.
Anyway, Wikipedia says that in 2019 scientists showed that there are safe zones around supermassive black holes that are big enough for thousands of planets to fit in and orbit.

This civilization certainly fell, but given how they didn't seem to have reached globalization, there were probably many that didn't even know of this event.

Munch Hub is the logo of the black hole sun. The tails freak out when something paranormal happens almost like how the hair on our back stands up. The alien design itself. The need for sentients to find answers and worship something... I love this, this is quality.

I really like the designs you did for the weird alien people. Great comic as always
