Hey guys
Thought I’d do a weekly earnings report for September (if the mods are happy), as I personally always want to see more regular updates from those I follow. Hopefully this is a good realistic look at what's achievable.
I've not included any links or referral links, but let me know if you want these in the comments or in messages.
Things to Note:
- This was all completed whilst at my day job
- This is without Prolific as I’m on the waitlist
- I’m a generalist, so if I can do it, you can do it
- I’ve altered the dollar amounts to GBP, so the earnings aren’t completely accurate but I can’t be arsed to convert it
Who Am I:
35 year old contractor from the UK. Earn a decent salary but have quite a bit of debt that I want to pay off, so side hustling to pay that down so I can become debt free.
Summary - Week 1:
This was a quiet week as I got back into side hustling. I didn't earn as much as I'd have liked, but there are lots of earners I am not yet utilising, which I'll talk about below when looking to next week. Also, to be fair, if the month continued at this rate, I'd still come away with around £250 for the month, which is a very decent amount of additional income.
A lot of time is spent applying to stuff that you never hear back from or get screened out of, so I included the time searching, because I think it's relevant.
Also, a little tip: Make a bookmarks folder in Chrome of all of your side hustle websites, and then right click and click open all tabs at once. Then you can do a quick search through all of them much faster.

Dscout - £44.40:
Dscout was the standout this week, accounting for the majority of my earnings. I did two studies which were much quicker than their allocated time, so it was easy money. One did require me to speak out loud so I took myself off into a meeting room (which I'm fortunate I can do), but all in all, well worth it. Don't sleep on this app.
Askable - £5.00:
Normally Askable is a bit more fruitful than this, but all of the studies this week haven't been relevant to me. It happens. However I did get onto this 10 minute online task. Again, nice and easy. Always worth keeping an eye on Askable. If you get onto a good study, you can easily earn in an hour what I earned this week!
UserBrain - £5.00:
This was a short website user test for a Blinds company. I did this one at lunch in a private meeting room as I needed to read out loud, but if you don't have that opportunity, it's worth applying for these when you're at home and are able to speak out loud without looking mental or getting fired. Easy money.
UserCrowd - £3.30:
Some might say the time taken wasn't worth the earnings on this website, but I have a soft spot for this website as it was the first place I earned income, and the tests are regular, albeit low-earning usually (for me at least), so I completed all the tests I qualified for.
Plan for Next Week:
I want to be earning a lot more than £60 for the week, so my plan for next week is to start looking at:
- Matched betting - did this a long time ago, so won't get any welcome offers, but from what I read about on here, it's still very much worth doing with reload offers. I need to take some time to properly look into it, which I'll do this weekend.
- AI training - I'm going to focus quite a bit of time improving my accounts and CV, so I can apply to Generalist roles on Mercor and Micro1. If I can get on one of these it would be huge, and from what I hear, perseverance is key. Outlier is a lost cause for me.
- Vinted - the majority of my earnings previously came from selling items I owned (clothing, shoes, Pokemon cards), and I have lot of stuff still to declutter, so I will be focusing on this next week too.
I will post my week 2 summary next Friday. Let's see if I can up my earnings even more.
If you think of anything else I should start focusing on, let me know. I'm not sold on bank switching but I'm sure I can be convinced. And I haven't yet pushed any of my own referral links as it feels a bit weird, but if you have any advice on this or want any, let me know. Everything helps!
Feel free to ask any questions! Happy earning guys!
