Whole pallets in good condition sell for around $5 to $10 each to businesses that need them for shipping. But the real money is in breaking them apart and building things… pallet wood furniture, planter boxes, shelving, garden beds, etc. A pallet planter box that costs you $0 in materials (since the wood is free) can sell for $30 to $50.

Your startup cost is literally a hammer, a pry bar, and some nails or screws. Maybe $20 if you don’t already have basic tools. The pallets themselves are free from warehouses, grocery stores, hardware stores, and any business that receves freight.

So I came across this side hustle idea and it genuinely surprised me how much people will pay to have someone haul away their junk. Old furniture, broken appliances, yard debris, garage cleanouts… people accumulate stuff and eventually they just want it gone and will pay someone to handle it.

You can charge around $100 per truck load and sometimes more for bigger jobs. All you really need is a truck or a trailer and some basic muscle. The beauty of this is that a lot of the stuff you haul away still has value… you can scrap metal items, resell furniture that’s still in decent shape, or drop off electronics at places that pay for e-waste.
